[LPGA Mother's Day 2002 Chat]

Amy Grant, music star, golf lover, co-host of this week's LPGA event and mother of four, was kind enough to spend her Mother's Day with LPGA.com chatting with fans. Here is the official transcript of what she had to say.
MODERATOR: Amy, welcome to the LPGA.com chat room. Happy Mothers Day and thank you so much for joining us today. Amy Grant: It is great to be here!
starbie: Amy, did Vince or the kids buy you anything nice for Mother's Day? Amy Grant: She made me a hand print, but she got a little help. Vince gave me some flowers and I'll see Matt, Millie and Sarah after the tournament.
Music Sherlock: I have 4 children as well. Since some of your children are older, approaching their teen years do you have any advice or a thought out plan as far as how to keeping purity at the center of the heart of your children?
Amy Grant: Music Sherlock, did you see Dr. Phil on Oprah last Tuesday? The casual attitude toward sexual service in teens is staggering my goal is teach my children respect for themselves and I am praying a lot!
Van Roon: Would you tell us where your inspiration came from for the album simple things?
Amy Grant: Well that album is not out yet, but I am so excited about this new material. My inspiration always comes from life.
Lillith99: Amy I am listening to My Jesus I Love Thee - what was that like recording this song? I just want to get up and dance all around! that is exactly what I did!
Amy Grant: Singing the last verse made me cry I have lived my life as best I could, but it still got a little messy the idea of a crown on my brow wiped me out.
Greg: Amy, What is your handicap and how often do you get to play golf, especially with the new baby?? A big fan of yours for many years!!
Amy Grant: Thanks for your support! I have played fewer than 10 times in the last two years
pregnancy. and a baby. My handicap is around 20.
Karen: What did Corrina do for her 1st birthday?
Amy Grant: We had a small party with our family.
Valerie: Amy, this is a silly question, but, are you going to grow your beautiful hair back?
Amy Grant: Not for a while.
starbie: Amy, I am a college student, and just want to know any secrets or advice to staying on the right track. My usual thing to do when I feel tempted is to put on one of your albums, and pick up the Bible. :-)
Amy Grant: Life is a process we learn our greatest lessons by living and sometimes failing. I'm not sure what temptations you are talking about specifically but that is just a fact of life self control comes with age as you learn to value yourself and your salvation you make different choices.
Julie: I've read you recently took up the sport of golf a few years agowhat was the easiest thing about falling in love with the game of golf?
Amy Grant: Being outside and away from the phone.
EWL: Are you and Vince going to be on The View Monday morning and if so what will you be doing?
Amy Grant: Yes we will be on The View Monday, May 20. We will be sending The River's Going to Keep on Rolling. That is the single from my new Legacy record.
wildamyfan: What was it like working with Brown Bannister again? I think he is one of the best producers we have today!!
Amy Grant: I agree with you! I have known Brown since I was 14.
Jill: Would like to ask Amy does she plan on continuing to make records beyond her Legacy and Simple Things albums or does she envision doing something else?
Amy Grant: I'd like to make a couple more records at least
starbie:Amy, I really liked the movie you did a few years ago, "A Song From the Heart". Any chances of another movie?
Amy Grant: Not right now. I didn't like all the time in a trailer.
John7347: Amy, what motivates you to be so involved with the LPGA year in and year out?
Amy Grant: This is the only spectator sport I actually play myself and I have made a lot of friends on the Tour.
Rhema: What did you give your mother for Mother's Day? Do you have any traditions for Mother's Day in your family?
Amy Grant: We are having a family dinner tonight and my sisters and our families and my mom. Time is the greatest gift!
DetroitPete: Amy, do you have a favorite player on Tour that you root for?
Amy Grant: My old friend Kris Tschetter.
rhema: Amy, on the inside liner of Never Alone, you reference Psalm 139, twenty-two years later, you still reference Psalm 139. What is it about that Psalm that captivates you and has engraved it on your heart that you passionately share it with others?
Amy Grant: I think as human beings our greatest desire is to be known and loved this Psalm answers that craving.
Lillith99: Amy as you reflect on the last 25 years as a recording artistwhat moments do you vividly remember the most?
Amy Grant: The interesting stories of the people with whom I have come in contact
dannyamy10: Amy, I am very excited to see that you have included a DVD along with your new album. Can we expect something along the lines of "Building the House of Love"? I love watching your videos that show behind the scenes.
Amy Grant: The collectors DVD is only available with the first 200,000 units sold. That was our only plan.
starbie: Amy, is there one song that you have recorded that has more meaning than the others?
Amy Grant: El Shaddai
rhema:What was it like in the recording studio with Vince?
Amy Grant: It was a blast! He is so funny and a great story teller. I love that he played so many of the solos.
LauraM: On Legacy where is the song from Mercy Me, " I Can only Imagine?"
Amy Grant: Right in the middle
rhema: Do Vince and Brown has similar styles or were they different?
Amy Grant: They both wanted to capture the beautiful essence of these old hymns. Brown has great ears. Vince has the hands to execute all of the playing. They made a great team
AMYFAN1:You and Vince seem so much in love, did you ever imagine your life being like this?
Amy Grant: I never knew life could be so peaceful. It is not the we feel the same about everything, it is just that we have so much respect for each other that our communication is always gentle.
CarolinaFan:How do you like meeting fans at the Vinny? Did we drive you crazy? Amy Grant: Of course not! I figure anyone who would walk around in the sun all day has got a gutsy side I appreciate.
Dolphinatuk:Are you often asked to sing at Church?
Amy Grant: It goes in waves, maybe once a year.
MODERATOR:And last but not least.
Love4Amy:What has been the most valuable thing you learned so far in your 25 year career?
Amy Grant: Wow, let me think. Hurt people hurt people and blessed people bless people and lastly in life always remember gracious on the way up, gracious on the way down.
MODERATOR:Thanks for joining us today, Amy!
Amy Grant: This is always fun. Thanks for having me back!
MODERATOR: Anytime. Enjoy your Mothers Day!
Amy Grant: Happy Mother's Day :)
