Surprise? Keith Urban doesn't disappoint at Max It Out event
From brand-new Tennessean entertainment reporter Molly Reed:
After 18 holes of golf, Amy Grant and Vince Gill promptly took the stage for the Max It Out fundraiser at the Wildhorse Saloon Wednesday.
Vince introduced himself and Amy as "Keith Urban and his future wife Nicole," remarking that he looks "a lot thinner on TV."
But Vince isn't looking too shabby these days, mentioning his 17-pound weight loss achieved merely by cutting Krispy Kremes and Coca-Cola out of his diet.
Singer Carolyn Dawn Johnson played master of ceremonies and introduced presenters such as NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne and The Bachelor Travis Stork.
Amid the sea of items up for auction, Carolyn told the audience that she tried to get Travis to put himself up for grabs.
The good doctor declined and wouldn't budge, stating that he had been sold the week before at another function. Apparently, the bachelor/bachelorette auction was enough for Travis. But he's such a good buy!
Country powerhouse Martina McBride graced the stage after performances by the likes of Shannon Brown and new duo Gunnar and Slaughter, made up of Gunnar Nelson of pop twin act Nelson and Mark Slaughter of rock band Slaughter.
Martina's lineup included "Where Would You Be," "Help Me Make it Through the Night" and "Wild Angels."
But the real show stopper was "surprise" guest Keith Urban, who until this year was so closely tied to the event that his name was part of it.
The Aussie even brought Martina back midway through his set to perform "Where I Used to Have a Heart," and wrapped up with an encore cover of Steve Miller's "The Joker."
