Amy wishes for more 'Three Wishes'
NBC announced its mid-season lineup changes yesterday, and Amy Grant's Three Wishes show wasn't on the schedule.
NBC insists the show isn't canceled, but things aren't looking good. Several weeks ago, the network ordered six more episodes, but just a week after that, the order was canceled. Three Wishes definitely will be off in January and February. The network airs the Winter Olympics in February.
Amy's peeps are doing everything they can to build big audiences for what could be the last two remaining episodes, airing tonight and next Friday.
Her management is sending out e-mail blasts and posting messages on www.amygrant.com to encourage folks to watch and to e-mail NBC ([email protected]) to urge the network to keep the show alive.
No word on why NBC wouldn't keep Three Wishes, which has been competitive in its time slot (locally, that's 8 p.m. on Channel 4). And if you set aside cynicism for an hour, you'll sit there and cry each Friday night and not just because you're sitting at home on a Friday night. The show really has a simple sweetness.
Meanwhile, tonight's episode does have a local connection beyond Amy. LeAnn Rimes heads to the Sound Kitchen recording studio to help two 11-year-old girls cut songs.
The girls, Allie Aksterowicz and Alexa Oswald, are in a band in their hometown, Dover, Ohio, called The Frog Kissers, and the girls got one of 13 Christmas wishes granted for tonight's episode. In addition to the trip to Nashville and the recording session, the girls got some recording equipment to take home.
Ain't that sweet?
