Making the team is always a great accomplishment. Some players are capable of making the team, but don't because of their lack of hustle. Showing the coaching staff that you are trying your best to help the team is always a plus. If you think you are not the best player, or even if you are, try your hardest and make sure the coaches see it. Be the first one there for practice and the last to leave. Diving for loose balls, trying to snag rebounds that are way out of reach, running back on defense, all of which will make the coaches consider you for the team. Boxing out and setting picks are are also great ways to be considered. During drills never show a sign of weakness, always run your fastest. Show that you can do the things that your position asks of you and more. Players from the youth level to the NBA have days where their shooting is off. Make sure that you show the coach your perfect form when you are shooting all of your shots. If he sees that you have good form he might be able to work with you to get your shot to fall more often. When you go to try out you must be in great physical shape to even be considered for the team. Run, practice and work out to become physically fit before the tryouts. don't start training the night before tryouts, practice during all of the off season. Do all this while playing smart ball, excelling in at least one area, and never showing off, and you will be a definite consideration. You might be able to knock a show-off off the team. |
