Natural Print and Dye is ancient Art of India. It's Traditional Art and happen in various states of India. Art of Print & Dye is still alive by Traditional craftsman.
Our ancestors were from Sindh (now in Pakinstan).
Before 400 years, the King of Kutch (Gujarat) invited them, and offered them
to do their work (this kind of print & dye) in Kutch. He also offered to choose any area/village to do
this kind of Natural Block Print. They had selected Dhamdaka (Near Bachau-Kutch). Because running river near the Dhamdaka.
My Great grand father had done the work of printing,
when they lived. They had made various products like Ajarakh, Rumal(hanker-chief), Ghagra(long skirt), Chuni(Dupatta) etc..
At that time they sold their all products to local people only. In all dying and printing vegetable extracts and natural ingredients.
Ajrakh is the best product of Natural
Prints. It's come from our tradition family. Natural print takes so much hard work and it is very time consuming,
and doing and managed by artisan from Dhamdaka. We are one of them.
After the Earthquake most of craftsperson decided to shift from Dhamdaka to Ajrakh Pur. Because of, huge
deconstruction of houses and workshop. All artisans decided to make new village. Ajrakh is the new village, made by
tradition Printers from Dhamdaka.
In our workshop in Ajarakh Pur, there are 40 artisans working on Natural Prints.
