How about the years in Bush when he wrecked car after car in Bill Davis's ride? He learned to be a great driver at Davis' expense and then Hendrick bought him. Gordon has not spoken to Davis si ce 1993, and never notified Davis that he was going to drive for Hendrick (Davis & Gordon had agreed to go to cup together, but Gordon was too young to sign a contract).
