Jerry Wong's
World of Railways in Hong Kong
I've just made some comparisons between the two railway
companies in Hong Kong.
KCR (excel over MTR)
- more handicapped facilities (i.e. handicapped elevators
at all stations)
- available restrooms
- station names in extremely large fonts with backlit
- free feeder buses
- pioneer the use of warning buzzer for opening and closing
doors
- greetings in 3 languages
- constant innovations to provide better service (i.e.
double-decker trains)
- pioneer for discount fares to encourage early bird riders
- available first class cabin
- dot-matrix escalator direction display in large font
- newsletter and liaison group to communicate with
passenger
- available souvenir and gift shops
- multiple ticket counters

MTR
- better frequencies
- overcharging passengers (i.e. new airport railways and
any distance similar to KCR)
