Unfortunately from where I come from (Malaysia), this is a dying art as most of the youngsters nowadays are more interested in computer games etc etc. A few of us are trying to bring back the interest in modeling by forming a club or association soon. Hopefully this will draw some youngsters back into this hobby.
One of the main problem which I find slowing down the hobby in my country is the cost of kits. It is quite expensive to build a complete kit taking into account all the necessary equipment for example glue, paints, tools, etc etc not to mention the kit itself!
Anyway I'd better stop rambling on about that and let me introduce myself. My name is Kevin Chooi (as if you didn't know that from the first page already) and I was born in the year 1971 to a family of ... hmmm... 1! ... that is myself and my parents...therefore it should be 3...hehe. Being a lone ranger sort of made me turn to art as a past time and on my 9th birthday I was given a plastic kit! I think it was a Typhoon fighter. Well in no time at all I was hooked and I mean really hooked! I remember I used to fix models right round the clock not even bothering about the daily 3 meals until I was dragged out of my room.
Now I'm married to a wonderful and supportive (modeling sense) wife, Janice Lee and our latest addition to the family, my son Kenneth Chooi who was born on the 1st of June 2000. I must say that Janice has been more than patient at my antics when I'm fixing my kits and I have to thank her for being so understanding. As for my son, who is now almost 2 years old, he is starting to like my models. Hmmmm..must start hiding my kits :)
