Here's the pic of my first day of working on taking the motors out. |
Here's the pic of the Probee and engine still intact. |
This is why I bought the car for the motor! |
Here's the side view the long and hard process about to take place. |
Here's a better view of the motor from the Probe. It has only 82K on it but it's much dirtier than my motor with 200K on it. |
Here's the left side pic of the motor just taken out of the Probe minutes before hand. |
Here's the fron pic of the motor from the Probe. |

Here's the pic of the Probe engine bay with out the engine. |
This process took me a total of 6 days to comlete with alittle help from my brother and friends. The first thing I did was romove every hose, electrical harness, and drive shaft from both of the cars. The first engine to come out was the Probes and then my car. Once I had the engine out of my car, I dropped it right into the Probe and thought nothing of it. Although once out, I removed everything I could keep like the alternator, switches, throttle body, EGR and injectors from my old motor. I also kept everything I could from the Probe including the Intercooler, Turbo, ECM, and the Air-Meter. Believe it or not the motor was put in my car in a lightning storm. Crazy! But I had no choice! It started to rain and lightning right after I the motor was taken out the Probe. I had to rush so I didn't really get to do what I wanted to which was clean the motor real good and replace the oil pan gasket. Oh well, that's life! The trickiest part was manuevering the engine with the hoist to line up the motor mounts. It took me and my brother at least an hour to line up the motor mounts and bolt them up. But after that , everything was a piece of cake. Your probably wonder what had to be changed from my motor to the Probes. The only thing that was different was the oil pressure switch and thermostat housing, other than that everything was the same.
