This 1950 Chevy Pickup is one of my rum runners.
There is a series of these cars and trucks in
progress.
They will be displayed here as they are finished. |
 |
Check out the barrels in the back. |
 |
The shot to the left and the shot above are of
the truck almost finished. |
 |
This picture shows the altered front end. I replaced
the straight axle
with a heavier unit, and changed the springs
to a heavier set. |
 |
The box was treated to some rough treatment to
simulate heavy usage. |
 |
This picture shows the 283 dual carb engine that replaced the original
wimpy 6 cylinder. With the horsepower of the V8, the truck had a
better chance of a successful getaway. |
 |
The rear suspension on the stock 1950 pickup wasn't up to the
challenge of hauling dozens of jugs of 'shine, so I upgraded
it with
heavier duty multi-leaf springs. |
 |
If you look closely, you can see two bullet holes in the front fender. |
 |
When I was at the Toledo '99 show I pickup up some barrels to put in
the back. |

 |
283ci w/ dual Rochester quads. You can't see it very well, but there's
throttle
linkage in there and the old crankcase vent tube on the back of the
rocker cover. |
 |
This side shows you the fuel line and filter that supplies both carbs.
I also made the open air filter out of sheet plastic and a finned brake
drum. |
 |
Really plain, don'tcha think? See the manual column shifter? |

Uncle Jesse! We're ready to go! |
