My 1971 Camaro’s Partial-Resto.

For the next step in the re-construction of my car we had to enlist the help of my uncle. He runs his own welding shop so we borrowed his talents and his equipment to fix the rust problems on my car.
We started out by using his plasma cutter to rough-in the area that was going to get replaced by the partial quarter panels. The metal that was left was so rusty that we had to weld anchor pieces onto the inner fender skirt so we would have a place to attach the new quarters to.
We also went up front and used the same technique to rough in where the patch panels were going to go on the lower front fenders. The plasma cutter made short work of all the metal and a grinder took care of all the finish work we needed before the welding.
Here is a picture of the roughed in opening for the new quarter patch panel.

This next shot shows the same area with the anchor pieces of metal welded in.

Here you can see how my dad is using the grinder to finish up the rough spots on the front fender.
