The first Supra, destined to be more of a touring car than the Celica. Like the A4 Celica, this generation Supra did not get much praise. Because of the strong criticism by the automobile press, there was a Sports Suspension package offered that targeted curing the soft handling. The package included stiffer springs, shocks and strut tower bars. Also, a Supra Performance option was offered, giving the car front and rear spoilers (anyone have pictures of this???).
Suspension consisted of live rear axle with coil springs and anti-roll bar, and the traditional McPherson Toyota front suspension. 5-speed gearbox or 4-speed automatic were available. 4 wheel disk brakes.
