Welcome to my Mini WORLD, a collection of the best modified Minis from around Australia. Each car is a tribute to the owner's love for Issignonis' master work, the Mini.
So much has been said about Minis since their introduction back in 1959 that there's little point in me RE-ITERATING their history in details here. Suffice to say they conquered all levels off motoring; sales, longevity (still in production), road racing and rally racing. Not a bad achievement for a car that was designed primary as cheap transport.
Minis even brought new meaning to the word "BRICK". I dare say a Mini owner is the only person who won't be offended to have their car called a brick, but then Mini owners have always seen the world in a different way. The humble Mini engine is probably also the most tinkered-with four cylinder in history. I've seen everything from twin cam heads to superchargers bolted on, making the tiny engine bay seen even smaller. They look like a toy, handle like a go-kart and with the right modifications they go like hell!!
You really have to drive one to understand just what the appeal is, but one thing's for certain, their appeal isn't fading away. The fact that the have been brought back into production more than 4 0 years after their inception is proof of that.
Micro cars come and micro cars go, but none has ever been a match for the MINI.
