BMW's 5-Series
The 5th generation 5-Series was introduced last year, in 1998.  The mid-line series of BMW now includes two cars, the 528 and the 540.  These cars range in price from the upper $30,000's to the mid $50,000's.  The one thing that I can not understand is why these cars sell as slowly as they do.  I see more 740's than I do 5-Series cars, even though they're this beautiful.  It's also interesting how Lexus's mid-level car doesn't sell well either.  Suggested alternatives for the 5-Series would be the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, or the Lexus GS400.  All given information is for the 540i, with the standard engine and transmission, which is specified below.
