~ A Sick Article by a Sick Individual ~

Broken Bill.

The best part of this story is the title , now that I have your attention on with the boring part. When I was in the Navy there was a saying , in the old days the ships were made of wood and the men were made of steel, now days the ships are made of steel and the men are made of wood. Whats this got to do with motorbikes? Well in the old days Bikes were made of steel, now days they made of who knows what? This is what I think about modern Bikes and us old blokes that ride them. I have just found out that old blokes dont bounce like they used to, nor do new bikes.

Years ago you could drop your bike, pick it up and ride away with no damage to you or your bike, not anymore. As you might have guessed by now, I have recently had an accident. Its taken nearly 25 years, but it finally happened , I hurt myself. Heres the embarrassing part, it wasnt on the highway doing 200 KPH, but on a dirt road doing 5 KPH . The end result was about $1600 damage to the bike, and a broken ankle for yours truly. Now for the depressing part of this story.

Six weeks incarceration at home on crutches suffering post traumatic shock. Its no fun being depressed, broken, bent, busted, and broke, at least I wasnt feeling sorry for myself?. The broke part comes in next year when I get my insurance renewal. I know I was suffering from post traumatic shock because at one point there, I actually considered selling the TRX, and taking up golf. But wait theres more, it got so bad at one point, I even considered buying a Virago and joining the Ulysses club. Now dont go feeling sorry for me, I dont want your sympathy, because I was able to find a cure for my symptoms.

The magical cure is DAY TIME SOAP OPERAS. Now I thought I had problems until I started watching the SOAPS . If these people can overcome their problems, so can I. There is a good part to this story and it appealed to my Welsh heritage. It was not being able to have a shower for six weeks. As the weeks rolled on , my dog Rocky started hanging around me more often.

At the end of the six weeks I really started to enjoy the tongue baths he was giving me. Me thinks this adds new meaning to the term mans best friend. Anyway my bike is as good as new, as for me my jogging days are over. The moral of this story is, in case of accidents keep your boots on, and drink heaps of liquids , until you can get to a doctor or hospital.
