| The Camaro Z28 SS is an altered 4thgeneration Z28 Camaro, that is available as a hard-top coupe, T-Top or Convertible model. The aggressively styled hood and enhanced rear spoiler if further enhanced by an underhood forced air induction system. The ZR rated sticky BF Goodrich Comp T/A 17 inch tires (275/40ZR/17) tires are mounted on lightweight 17"X9" cast aluminum alloy wheels. (the convertible requires 16" version of this tire). Also the Z28 SS have a much more aggressive suspension system such as a larger diameter front anti-roll bar and revised rear track bar. Once the car receives these modifications from SLP it receives the three-dimensional Z28 SS exterior graphics and each car (1996 only) received a sequentially numbered interior plaque attached to the center console that makes the statement of being a "special" vehicle. This model offers other special options such as a "cat-back exhaust system, Level II Bilstein Sport Suspension Package, Torsen Torque Sensing Limited Slip Differential, with AAM Aluminum Cover, Hurst Short Throw Performance Shifter, Z28 SS Floor Mats, Z28 SS Car Cover, Oil Cooler, and extra set of ZR-1 wheels with R1 Racing Tires for the Track. A total of 2,263 Camaro Z28 SS's were produced in 1996. Black then Red being the most popular colors, Teal being the least ordered. For 1997, the Anniversary Model was produced (white with orange racing stripes, black and white hounds-tooth seats and white wheels), but the name was changed to Camaro SS, dropping the Z28 designation. No console plaques were attached to the console, nor was the sequential number system used, only for the SLP paper invoice.
