Issue No. 14 July 1998
14th & 15th March, 1998. This weekend was organised by the Toowoomba Hot Rodders as a casual getaway weekend. There were 42 entries (37 street rods) from Toowoomba, Chinchilla, Emerald, Brisbane & nthn NSW. After gathering at the Mobil s/stn at Warwick, we moved off in groups to the Warwick Fete, at St Mary's church for a short show and shine. We then traveled on to Stanthorpe, and settled into our motels. Two buses were organised to take entrants on a tour of 3 local wineries, and a berry farm, for free wine tasting, and to purchase a few bottles for (later) Ron.
Following the tours we returned to freshen up for our smorgasbord meal at Anna's Restaurant, where a fine meal and fun times were had by all. On the (usual) sleepy and slow Sunday morning we all enjoyed a BBQ breakfast in the park, supplied by the Toowoomba Rodders club. Several prizes were awarded with "Longest Distance" going to Neil Coleman of Emerald (Qld) & Rodders Choice winner-Hilton Washington, 'A' Tudor from Chinchilla. After the awards, we (reluctantly) made our way home to the 'real world'.
It was a very enjoyable and laid-back 'Weekend Escape', and we hope to see you all at this weekend in 1999.
