We cruised in about midday to 'Hot Rods', my friend Marc's rod shop in Norco, where it's still 1955. Did I hear you say, "Where's Norco?" Man, this place is 'Kustom Kulture' at its best. There were pinstripers everywhere (just so many 'pinheads' in one place, Wow!) It's good California didn't experience any earthquakes that day, as I've never seen so many steady hands striping everything from T-shirts to toilet seats, and even you (if you stood too close to their brushes). It was interesting to watch so many pinheads striping at once, each with his own style, and colour. The smell of BBQ food and striper's thinners filled the air, as everyone was having a good time, and I was soaking up the atmosphere.
This year the donor car didn't show up, leaving these guys all warmed up with their brushes ready. Oh well, there's always next year, and maybe you would like to offer your car as the donor? This cruize runs well into the night, with the flame throwing exhibits and live 50's bands (loud), and lots of Kool Rods and Kustoms to view. Larry Watson has his customising shop behind 'Hot Rods', so you get to see some new projects taking shape too. I personally like that decal that reads, "Anyone can restore a car, but it takes a real man to cut one up". Oh, one more thingNorco is short for North Corona, just in case you want to take in Marc's shop on your next U.S. holiday. It's worth it!
