CRAKK Run '98
Canberra / Australian Capital Territory

Friday evening early entries had a sausage sizzle and bench session. Saturday morning, bacon and egg breakfast was supplied, then 10:30 was the start of the Poker Run and Cruise to Bungendore. The town of Bungendore is full of arts and crafts, and those things that women like to do, and also has a couple of nice pubs that serve great counter lunches, and things that men like to do. Saturday afternoon was great crooz'n in the park. Everybody waited in anticipation for the Drags, which were to be held that evening. Unfortunately, this was not to happen, as for the first time in weeks it pounded down rain. To the rescue came Bill Jansen, and a slide night was held. Bill has photos and slides of every rod run and hot rod that's been in the A.C.T. Also very interesting were the photos that were taken when we all were thin and had hair.

Sunday morning; more bacon and eggs supplied, and stage 2 of the Poker Run. The "Kruise De Kanberra" set off through the streets of the A.C.T., and finished up at the Australian Heritage Village, for a static Show & Shine, and lunch at Clancy's Bar & Bistro.

Back in the park, crooz'n continued with prizes and give-aways, until 7 p.m. A spit roast dinner was supplied, and the $5 Take-A-Tankard. Tony Gray's Rock 'n Roll Disco was the entertainment for the evening. Bacon and eggs once again turned up after midnight, for the stayers. Monday morning a pancake breakfast was supplied, with Presentations straight after.

As you can see by this report, a lot of entrants meals were supplied free. The only thing you pay for is accommodation as there is no entry fee. This is a LOW BUCK RUN that all the family can enjoy. 240+ entered this year, and it looks like the Run has also outgrown the White Ibis Resort. Congratulations to the Wizards of Oz rod club and the CRAKK Committee for putting on a great event. See you there next year.
