'ABLE'
Geoff Brown, Eumundi, Qld.

This 1934 Chev Roadster began its rodding life as a mint body and accessories which Geoff acquired from famed Sunshine Coast old car identity, Able Honey, before Able's untimely passing in 1995.

In keeping with tradition, most of the standard panels were kept with some modification, and the body was placed on a partially boxed '35 Chev chassis, to enable the use of the standard "X" member. Running gear utilised consisted of mostly tried and proven donor parts such as HR front end, Centura rear end mounted on shortened HR parallel leaf springs, Chev 350 with two speed Powerglide, and shortened Commodore rack.

The rod's recent history consists of 1996 Brisbane Hot Rod Show ASRF stand display vehicle (partially completed), debut finished at the 1997 Brisbane Show (should have been at the 1997 Nats, but time ran out), and 8000 k's of other various runs including Yamba, Wintersun and the recent Rockhampton Show.

People involved in the construction were Lawrie Scheuber, body, chassis and paint; Lindsay Houston, graphics, pinstriping; and Geoff for mechanicals and general dog's body. Of course, Graham Cowan must not be forgotten for allowing the owner to pinch his general design and colour.

Specifications: Motor; Chev 350 mildly modified. Transmission; Chev 2 speed Powerglide. Rear end; Borg Warner 2:92 gears. Suspension; front-HR Holden, rear-leaf springs. Brakes; front-WB discs on 2" drop spindles with HZ calipers, rear-standard Centura drums. Interior; Sigma seats, Toyota TS18 steering column, Classic gauges, and room for one passenger! Exterior; Homemade Carson top, covered with Mercedes cloth inside and out, dickie seat turned into boot for extra storage. Paint; Spearmint from 76/77 Falcon. Wheels; Weld 15x6 front, 15x8 rear. Owner; Geoff Brown, Thumpers American Car Club Inc.

(P.S. Don't forget, we'll see ya at the 1999 Canetoad Cruise, January '99 - not far away!)

Nearing completion in 1997 with Lawrie Scheuber putting finishing touches to the body.
