National Office Report

The ASRF's National Control Council's Annual General Meeting was held recently in Brisbane. At the AGM the State Director's decide how to give ASRF members the best benefits, with the resources available to them. One of the principal objectives of the Federation is to promote the sport, so that new cars are built, something we all want to see. This has been happening as is evidenced by the increase in street rod registrations lately. At the time of publishing this newsletter, the NCC AGM is still to happen, so a summary of the issues and decisions discussed at the 1998 AGM will be printed in the January issue of the newsletter.

This last year, the interest in Street Rodding has increased again, particularly in the 1948-1966 sector, and we welcome those new members to the ASRF. The State Councils have been active in promoting the sport to the public, in particular, NSW have purchased a promotional trailer, which is worth seeing, and Western Australia have rekindled the State Title Show and hosted another regional Nationals. The Victorian Division is well on the way to hosting a record number of entries for the Geelong Nationals, with a record number of pre-entries received at the end of August. The 14th Nationals are shaping up to be an event not to be missed. Then there's the ASRF Raffle Car, now completed and looking good and a credit to the team responsible for it's construction. The '32 will be on display at a number of events in the coming months.

When we look back there have been many other highlights in street rodding over the last 12 months, and our thanks must go to all the volunteers who have made possible all the rod runs, hot rod shows and events for us all to enjoy. Not only do we benefit by being able to take part in these events, but they promote hot rodding to the public through exposure we would not otherwise have had. We are looking forward to the next 12 months being just as successful.
