Victoria/Cruise nights
Mid week cruise nights in Victoria over the daylight saving months has been very successful these past few years. The most successful night cruise, hosted by the Mountain District Rodders, regularly had in excess of 200 vehicles attending. The Mountain Districts cruise night was closed down early in the season due to a small number of rat bags in street cars turning up, and doing burnouts and donuts in the car park, with the host club having to finally shut it down to avoid any accidents.

The three other clubs hosting cruise nights, have been getting quite good results, Thunderbirds (Bundoora) 80-100 cars, Throttlers (Patterson Lakes) 30-45 cars, Satellite City (Sunbury) 10-20, all attracting a wide variety of cars from vintage, muscle car, hot rods and classic customs to support the cruise nights.

The cruise nights mean lots of intermingling and enjoyable nights away from the T.V. Shown here is a sample of the vehicles which attended one of the Thunderbirds cruise nights at Bundoora early this year.

Any clubs interested in travelling to New Zealand for a group tour in the near future may be interested in the following message received recently. If you are interested please contact Grant Newman (Phone/fax 9 627 1186) or e-mail [email protected].

Revolution Rodders
Dear Editor, On the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June, there was a small but successful show held at North Ryde. I have enclosed some pictures which you may wish to include in the ASRF newsletter. It was also a big event for my club - Revolution Rodders - as we had all but one of our member's cars on display. To the organiser's, all I can say is thanks, and I hope that it is held again. Yours in rodding, Troy Dunn.

Tribute to a young rodder
It is with much sadness that we mourn the passing of Cristy Hynard, eldest of Nev & Barbara Hynard's three children. Cristy was a member of Rods Inc (Qld). Cristy was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on 12/7/98 (she was only 23 years old) when she w as returning from the Rockhampton Motor Show where she had won several trophies for her Model 'A' roadster. I knew Cristy since she was a toddler, and I watched her grow into a young woman who was admired, respected and loved by everyone who knew her. She was everyone's friend and mate.
