Collecting Die Cast Hot Rods

We all know the best thing about hot rodding is PARTICIPATING. But, for most kids, that's kinda hard to do on your pocket money. As Geoff Rea has been telling you all about model building, I thought I'd tell you about an even cheaper way to have fun, and get involved. That is by collecting diecast toy hot rods. In other words, 'Hot Wheels' and 'Matchbox' cars.
You might be surprised to know how many little hot rods there have been made over the years. I have over two hundred different ones in my collection, and I know I haven't got them all yet! Most of you know about Matchbox cars, but many other companies have made hot rod toys as well. They include;

Ertl - Tomica - Yatming
Micro Machines
Kidco - Road Champs
Racing Champions
Kenner - Universal
Corgi - Tootsietoys
Jonhnny Lightening
Zylmex (also Z-toys)

If that seems a lot, wait till you see how many types of hot rod have been produced. Let's start with the different year model Fords;
'T' Model; Van, coupe, sedan, truck,bucket, touring, roadster.
'A' Model; Delivery, truck, woody, tourer.
1932; 3 window coupe, 5 window, tudor, roadster, delivery, hi-boy.
1934; 3 window coupe, roadster, tudor, 5 window coupe.
1936 Pick-up, roadster, sedan, 5 window coupe, 3 window coupe.
1940; Tudor, coupe, woody, pickup.
1941; Coupe.
Then there's the 1940 and 1933 Willys coupes, the Chevs with a '36 sedan, '37 coupe, '39 sedan and '39 delivery. And Plymouth are represented with a 1937 coupe.
