Below are images of Herb Adams' 1979 Fire-Am race car. This is the same car that raced in the '79 and '80 24 Hour race at Daytona, on street tires.

Photo of the Fire-Am accelerating out of a corner. Yes, that's Herb himself doing the hot shoe duties. This is a good view of the air dam on this car working. Note how it's pulled down in the middle by air pressure. Also note the large area between the air dam and front bumper into which cooling air can flow. There is also a hole cut in the front bumper between the two grille openings. Also notice the wheels. Those are the factory 15"x8" Snowflake wheels found on WS-6 cars. They are also the exact same set of wheels that are on my car now. Check out the shaker scoop too. The rounded appearance gives it away as a '73-'76 shaker.

This view shows a little of the racer's exhaust system. It is a single pipe that exits out the passenger side of the car. Also note the rear spring shackles and the 32 gallon ATL fuel cell hanging out under the trunk area. This car has very little trunk floor, as it was cut out to make room for the fuel cell. The car had a chrome roll cage as evidenced by the forward downrunner just behind the A-pillar.
