With the engine enlarged to 4 1/2 litre this Bentley model could reach 90 mph. Cylinder dimensions were identical to the 6 1/2 litre six. With the improved gearbox and brakes the 4 1/2 won at Le Mans in 1928 and came 2nd, 3rd and 4th after the winning 6 1/2 litre in 1929. It was produced with minor changes until the firm went down in 1931.
