Well although you can't see most of them here is another picture with some
of the add on's, on. Most of everything I've added is strictly for
functionality. Started with the Smitty Built nerf bars, sure makes
getting in and out easier for my wife and daughter. Then was standard
Dodge mud flaps, then the bug guard and vent shields. Once the basics
were covered then came the Lund headlight covers and cold front, both for
looks and the fact that the roads up here are terrible as far as stones
being thrown by other cars. We have about 22 hours of daylight up
here in Alaska during the summer so I use the tinted then and the clear
in the winter because of the 18 hours of darkness we have then.
This is main reason behind the 1-ton truck. Hauling a HUGE camper.
Weighing in right at 4000lbs loaded the Lance 945 11' 3" beast is just
too much for most trucks. Although the ground isn't quite level in
this picture you can see it really doesn't put too much strain on the Dodge
rear end.
Add to the fact that family comes
up every year to visit and most things are a little too far for a one day
jaunt from Anchorage, then the club cab and the camper really pay off big
time up here. During the fall and the hunting seasons I also haul
a 16 foot tandem axle flatbed behind all this loaded with four wheelers
and gear for hunting. Last fall was probably the most it's seen as
far as load goes. Truck, Camper, Trailer, Four wheelers, Gear, all
came to right at 16000 lbs. And even with all this the Cummins diesel
still put out a respectable 11 miles per gallon on a 500 mile run, and
about 100 was through mountain passes and hills.
