This
is my wife Witchy
Woman and a good friend of ours Jerry
Reed (really that's his name), taken during the fall of '96 after both
moose had been called in to within less than 20 yards. Although Witchy
has hunted for years with me this was her first big game animal.
Not sure who was more excited her or me while calling it in. We managed
to bring him in from over 300 yards away all the way around a huge clearing.
If you've never called in a 1000 lb animal looking for a fight then you
should really try it. Watching a bull moose heading your way stiff
legged and ready to take on any challenger is something to get your blood
pumping.
Another shot of Witchy's
first moose. Fall of '96 shortly after falling him. To
say she was a little happy would be an understatement. I consider
myself the luckiest man on earth. Witchy
not only loves hunting and fishing with me, but got mad because I wasn't
letting her do enough of the dirty work while packing this beast out.
So I let her jump in with both feet and arms, and if you've never cleaned
a moose you can only imagine what I'm talking about...
Here
is Todd Sterner a fellow I work with up here and his '97 moose. Needless
to say this one was a real dandy. Measuring at 67" spread and taken
near the Alaska range in northern Alaska. Unlike most of mine and
Witchy's hunting Todd had to pack this animal out on his back to the airstrip.
14 trips with a 100 plus pound pack and you really start to question your
sanity. Course I've always questioned Todds sanity. When it
comes to luck this man has it. Getting this fine moose and getting
drawn for one of the prime Dall Sheep hunting areas in Alaska all in the
same year.
Another fine looking animal this 37 1/2" full curl Dall ram taken in the
Tok management area of Alaska. Todd not only got drawn for the hunt
but also managed to find a neighbor that has a Super Cub (the Alaska taxi)
and the knowledge of where to go with it. Setting him and his party
down in prime sheep area. The picture may not look it but this is
no little hill either. This was taken looking down, almost straight
down a rather large mountain. Dall sheep inhabit some of the most
beautiful and rugged areas of the state.
