(Murph is the name of my 64 2dr 300 series wagon)
Revised September 20, 1997
(Photos take just TOO long to download)
please keep in mind that any photos refered to as recent really aren't!!!!!!
I guess the first question has to be why on earth I would
name my car "Murph".
Well, if you are around my age and live on the west coast, you may remember a cartoon character called "Murph the surf" that was in Surfer Magazine back in the late 60's. I think that my car just has to be the perfect surf wagon.
The car started life as a 64 300 series 2 door wagon. The fact is that there wasn't a 64 2dr "Chevelle" wagon, let alone a Malibu version. All of the 2 door wagons were the base models, refered to as 300 series cars.
Due to the damage to the front end of the car, I chose to do a 65 front clip. I like the 65 style better!
Here are the scans of the car that I started with.

This is what I call real rough!! However, I've always wanted a 2dr!!
Here is a scan of the car under construction (well, it's still under construction). Yes, my garage always seems to me a mess!
Here's a pair of recent photos.
Now, as this scan shows, it always takes longer to build
a car than you expect!
Don't make the mistake of telling friends that that cool "surf wagon"
you are building will be ready for summer of 96! I wish she would quit
looking at her watch. I'm working as fast as I can!!!
Yes, the car runs! The engine is a (mildly) built 350 and the trans is a TH350. The front suspension is a Global West tall spindle disk brake set-up (73 Chevelle spindles and brakes). The brakes are converted to power with dual reservoir master cylinder. The power steering was modified and blueprinted by Lee Engineering (changing ratio and feed-back). The floor pans were replaced.
I put in a 73 steering tilt column and built a custom dash for the Autometer phantom gauges.
Now on to history of the items that I have done to the car.
1. Working on the hidden hitch
2. Modifying and mounting power windows (first of 3 pages)
4. Building a custom dash (first of 2 pages)
More latter, as I get the time!
Enough already, let me go back to the
