The Viduus Ovidius Karting Page
This page is fully dedicated to karting, one of the greatest things to do
according to Viduus Ovidius.
Our favourite racing track right now is "Circuit De Landsard" in Veldhoven,
The Netherlands. Another track we sometimes race is "Hezemans Indoor karting"
in Eindhoven, also in The Netherlands.
We still have to check out our local track "Circuit De Peel" in Venray,
of course once again in The Netherlands.
The last race we had was at Hezemans in Eindhoven. Only just the members Tinus
and TwieTwie were racing, Boom was watching.
We were racing track 2. They have different setups.
Here follow the results:
Racing time was at 21.35 hours.
This was the first time we ever raced this track, without practise.
It was a one-to-one race between Tinus and TwieTwie.
Race winner was Tinus with an average of 31.92 sec. and best lap time of 29.77
sec.
Second was TwieTwie with an average time of 33.53 sec. and best lap time of
30.15 sec.
These results classified Tinus 15th on the daily ranking list.
TwieTwie ended up 22nd.
The second race we had was at 22.19 hours.
The race was with 6 drivers.
This was the second race for Tinus and TwieTwie, both the same day.
The other drivers were more regular visitors.

Race was won by fastest lap time.
Race winner was Tinus with the fastest lap time of 29.59 sec.
Best average time was achieved by TwieTwie in 31.44 sec.
Average time of Tinus was 32.74 sec.
Best lap time of TwieTwie was 30.30 sec.
Final daily positions for Viduus Ovidius members were:
Tinus : 18th (heat 62) and 19th (heat 58)
TwieTwie: 31th (heat 58) and 35th (heat 62)
... out of an unknown number of drivers.
Next race was scheduled on Thursday 23 May 1996, preferably at "De Landsard"
in Veldhoven. Only in case of late racing time or bad weather conditions the
race would be held at Hezemans in Eindhoven.
Viduus Ovidius members signed up were Tinus and TwieTwie.
The race of 23 May has taken place at the indoor track in Eindhoven as it was
very late.
Again only just Tinus and TwieTwie were driving. This time, TwieTwie was
faster than Tinus. According to the race results, the race was on track 1.
However, it was the same configuration as the previous one.(track 2)
9 drivers on the track. Fastest heat track time by Bellemakers, in a time of
28.62 seconds. This was the second best time that day, with only one more race
to go.
TwieTwie's fastest lap time was 30.24 seconds. Average time was 31.72 seconds.
Tinus lapped fastest in 30.41 seconds, 5/100 sec. slower than TwieTwie. Average time
was 31.94 seconds.
Final positions were :
TwieTwie : 6
Tinus : 7
The weekend after this race, Tinus, Boom and Toep (another friend) went to check out circuit "De Peel" in Venray.
No rental kart available, the boarding rail had proven too steady.
Perhaps we will return there in due course, as we would like to try out a used
kart which is for sale and within our budget. :)
The next race we had was in Nijmegen. Again an indoor race.
Drivers here were Tinus and Toep. Boom was watching once again.
I seem to have lost the resultspaper. Sorry. But it wasn't really possible
to compare Tinus and Toep, as Toep used 6(!) different karts during the race if
I am not mistaking. A lot of them at least.
21 January 1997. TwieTwie's birthday. The race was at 'Gaasbeek Indoorkarting'
in Duiven. This is a nice circuit! Two full floors, really a long circuit.
Contains lots of corners too, so I found it very hard for my arms. I must have
lost my shape.. :-(
The first heat we raced with 9 people, mainly from the HTS-Arnhem. Including
Viduus Ovidius members TwieTwie and Tinus. Tinus's best lap time was 49.85 seconds.
TwieTwie lapped only 0.40 sec. slower: 50.25 seconds. Tinus had the overall fastest
average lap time: 51.85 sec. TwieTwie was next with 52.77 seconds. But the fastest
lap time was set by Maarten: 49.71 sec.
The overall results by best lap were: 1. Maarten, 2. Tinus, 3. TwieTwie, 4. Henk
Jansan, 5. Mini, 6. P.P., 7. Daan, 8. Broertje, 9. Rije.
The second heat only 6 drivers went for another round. Mini, Broertje and Rije chose
to watch from the side.
This time, HJ (Henk Jan) won by his amazing fastest lap: 48.85 seconds.
Further, the finishing order remained unchanged. So Maarten was second(49.16),
Tinus was third (49.41), TwieTwie was fourth (49.65), PP fifth (50.53) and last
but not least Daan (51.27).
The best average time, however, was Maarten's again: 50.53 sec.
Second was Tinus (50.19), third was HJ (50.47) and TwieTwie ended fourth (51.15).
Let's not publish the other times...
I am also busy with a company competition. This championship takes place at the
indoor karting track of Oss.
We, (Eetcafe Museumzicht Overloon), finished second so we get to do it again soon. (Somewhere in April or May).
I'll publish some more about that soon.
18 April was my birthday.
Then, Viduus Ovidius went to circuit "De Landsard" in Veldhoven again.
All members were there except Steeg, who was moving.
Tau and Tinus 'sponsored' the others, as they were both celebrating their birthday.
At first, we thought to rent some fast karts. But they only had 3 of them,
and they were much more expensive than expected.
As we were late already, we only took 1 heat with regular rental karts.
Of course, it was still fun!
7 May is the semi-finals of the company competition. I should still do some practising.
I sure hope we are doing just as good as last time, but it will be tough.

I will show the results here right away!
Soon we will have a private race at "Circuit De Peel" in Venray.
We will rent the track for the whole afternoon and rent 10 karts too.
20 persons (friends) will participate. At this point, we have enough people.
But as soon as we need more persons, I will inform here. You may email me anyway
now to tell me you like to participate. Or if you want to see the race.
Then, we will have a training session first and then race with 10 karts per heat.
After the first 2 heats, new teams will be selected from the respective 10 fastest
drivers and the 10 slowest drivers. Then, these teams will race again.
If time allows, both races will be over 2 heats each. Let's hope so! :)
