Nothing has to be done today and I will use this day to get over the jet lag before starting the walk tomorrow. Last night, I arranged to meet Karel In't'Hout in Leiden tonight at 6 pm for dinner and an hour of snooker.
The sky clears up occasionally to let the sunshine through but then some minutes later it is raining. The floating hotels, very cheap when I was here six years ago, have now gone up market and it is now 130 Hfl per night for a single room.
I discover that the film loaded into the camera yesterday didn't load properly and the photographs I took are no more. Perhaps I can blame it on the jet lag.
Catch the train to Leiden to meet up with Karel. We find a restaurant and order the Indonesian Rice Table. This wasn't as good as ones I have had on previous visits. The snooker after dinner is more interesting. I believe Karel is a good player but he always manages to let me think I can beat him. The championship ends with him only slightly ahead.
Tomorrow the walking starts in earnest. Karel has taken the day off work to walk with me for the first day. We arrange to catch the same train, the 8:30 am from Amsterdam to Rotterdam.
Managed to get hold of Andrew and all seems well at home. Bought my train ticket, 27 Hfl from Amsterdam to the start of the walk, Hoek van Holland.
