Mind Games was the first of many projects that Lennon was to embark on during the 'Lost Weekend'... released (in the US) in November, 1973.

When May Pang was asked by online reporter, Lady Jean (AbsoluteElsewhere), "Were you in the studio the whole time the album was being recorded?", she responded:

"Every day.

"I carried Johns lyrics and made sure everybody had their copy once we got in the studio. I always loved the beginning, getting the musicians into the room and theyre looking at it and they would do what John would teach them, and then theyd come up with their own spin on it.

"I loved the actual sessions. Knowing the history behind the musicians, who theyd played with and what they had done. The interaction between the musicians and John; it was nice to see the mutual admiration. I was fascinated."

Album cover designed by John Lennon.

Lennon interpreted the cover artwork as representing a breaking away from Yoko Ono. Lennon is turning his back on the symbolic mountainous influence of Yoko while, in reality, drawing closer to May.

John had told May that the idea had come to him in his sleep, "Look at those pictures... what I'm doin' is walkin' away from Yoko!"

Thereby, validating his commitment to May.
