Elsewhere, the treacherous Decepticons had conquered the Autobot's home planet of Cybertron. But in the course of time, the Autobots were poised to recapture Cybertrons. Two of Cybertron's moons were Autobot outposts. Moonbase 1 was military headquarters for the invasion, and Moonbase 2 was a forward observation post.
"Listen, Ironhide, we don't have enough energon cubes to power a full-scale assualt," replied Optimus Prime, commander of the Autobots. "I want you to make a special run for Autobot City on Earth for another supply.
Prepare the shuttle for launch.""Your days are numbered now, Decepticreeps!" Ironhide grunted. Before Ironhide departed, Spike and Bumblebee on Moonbase 2 broadcasted a message.
"Tell my son Daniel that I miss him, and that I'll be home as soon as we've kicked Megatron's tail across the galaxy."
In a short time the shuttle was ready. Optimus Prime watched as it blasted off. "All we need now is a little energon....and a lot of luck!"
Just as he spoke, a small metallic bird ejected from a console behind the Autobots. Unseen by all, it was Laserbeak, the Decepticon spy who hurtled at top speed towards the arm of Megatron, imperial leader of the Decepticons! Megatron replayed the transmission in Lazerbeak's cassette, and discovered the Autobot's plan.
"More (luck) than you can imagine, Optimus Prime!" Megatron grinned at the monitor. The Decepticon leader made his plans and issued his orders. The Decepticon spaceship lifted off from Cybertron, packed with Decepticons.
In the Autobot shuttle, Prowl and Ironhide sat at the controls. Cybertron was dropping behind fast when, suddenly the ship was rocked by an explosion on the starboard.
But in moments, Megatron and his army destroyed the Autobot crew and took control of the ship. Megatron was triumphant. "When we slip through the early warning system in their own shuttle and destroy Autobot City, the Autobots will be vanquished for ever!"
