I have always been pretty good with my hands. Around 6 years ago, I saw this quaint paper basket in one of the posh malls in the Philippines which, upon closer scrutiny, turned out to be strips of newspapers woven into a basket and painted (not sprayed) with wood varnish. In no time at all, I was making these baskets and I even managed to turn up quite a number which we used as containers for my Mom's delicious pulvorons which we give away every Christmas.
I have also made some woven christmas bells which I painted gold and trimmed with ribbons for our christmas tree. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of these projects, but once I get to finish some new projects here in New York, I will post a sample or two on these pages. Something that might be of interest to stay-at-home moms are the picture frames I am making out of discarded cardboard and craft paper bags from the supermarket. Soon as they are varnished and ready to be hung, I will post one here for all to see.
Watch out for it!
