Chapter 91, Going Home |
"So? Who's driving?" Breanna asked as Eve handed her the baby carrier. "I am." Howie replied as he placed Anna in it. "Okay...then who's car are we taking? I could have sworn AJ drove us here in his car." Breanna replied as she stood behind Howie watching over his shoulder as he buckled Anna into her seat. "Calm down, woman! I know what I'm doing. Stop hovering over me like a gnat." He laughed. Breanna pinched his ass before walking away to talk with Izabel and Eve.
Eve and Izabel were talking quietly to themselves as they packed the things that Howie hadn't touched yet. "Shhh! She's coming." Eve said. Both women looked up at Breanna with smiles on their faces. "Hello, Eve...Izabel. Why so quiet?" Breanna asked with a smirk. "Well, if you want to know, we were talking shit behind your back." Eve explained. "And that would be?" Breanna asked, still smirking. "How the hell you could look so damned good after having Anna? It hasn't even been 24 hours yet and you're back to normal." Izabel pouted. "I am not back to normal! You didn't see me 'normal'. Normal was when I was on tour. Normal would be 15 pounds less with a firm stomach and tight hips." Breanna replied. "We're kidding! We weren't talking about you like that. We were just wondering, since you and Howie are getting more comfortable together, if you two would be moving back in together some time soon? At least for Anna's sake." Eve said. "Eve, we've only been back together for a day. Moving back in together would be a little sudden." Breanna said in a quiet voice. "You two are back together!?" Eve asked as her face lit up. "Yeah, didn't you know?" "NO!" Izabel and Eve replied. "Okay, forget about you two being back together. We're not suggesting that you two move back into the *same* bedroom. Just the same house. Anna needs her daddy and Howie needs Anna...and you." Izabel explained. "We haven't talked about it yet. Maybe on the way home." Breanna said, as she turned to check on Anna.
"No, Nick. Grow up! I love you but lately I've been on level five whereas you've been on level two. I'm tired of having to look down to you when I speak." Natasha shouted as she stormed into the hospital room. "Hey Bree. I'm heading home. I just can't talk to Nick right now. Congratulations on Anna! I'll call you later sometime and maybe we can go out to lunch." Natasha replied hastily as she hugged Breanna before turning to walk away. "Bye, everyone!" Natasha said to the room with a fake smiled plastered to her face. "Hey wait!" Breanna shouted to Natasha. Natasha turned around in the doorway to see Breanna walking towards her. "I'll walk you to the elevator." Breanna stated. Natasha nodded her head in agreement as both women left the room. Natasha looked around to see that Nick was nowhere around before she continued to walk. "So, care to talk about it?" Breanna asked. "Oh, I don't know! What is wrong with him? Lately it seems that he's acting younger and younger. He's almost 24! Why won't he act like it?" Natasha rambled on as Breanna listened.
"I think I know what his deal is." "You do?" Natasha asked. "Yeah. Look around, Nat. His five best friends who have seen him grow up from a boy are now growing up themselves. Kevin's married with a baby. His best friend for life is engaged with a son. Howie now has Anna and AJ and Mya are getting closer each time they're together. He's just clinging to his childhood while he can. Pretty soon it'll be you and Nick getting married and or having a baby. At the moment I think he's scared of that huge responsibility. I sure as hell know that I'm scared. Just talk to him. Let him talk to you. You know how he gets...he needs someone to practically pry things out of him before he'll open up. I know it may be asking a lot, but just be patient with him. He'll eventually start acting his age. If Brian didn't have Izabel or Thomas, they would *both* by acting like children, or at least they would be acting like chickens with their heads cut off." Natasha laughed and reached over to hug Breanna. "Thanks. I guess I didn't see any connection between how he has been acting and what's been going on in his life. I understand now, I just wish he'd realize that it's okay to have huge responsibilities and have fun at the same time." Natasha said quietly as she looked at the ground. "Well, I'll tell him that you'll call him later tonight, okay?" Natasha looked up at Breanna and smiled. "Okay." "Good! Bye, Nat! Just give him some time." Breanna said as she watched Natasha walk into the elevator. "I will! And you be nice to Howie!" Natasha teasingly scolded. Breanna laughed at her friends change in attitude.
Breanna heard a baby crying down the hall and sighed to herself. "Alright, alright." Breanna mumbled under her breath on the way back to her room once she realized that it was Anna crying. Breanna walked back into the room and saw Howie trying to calm the baby. "I think she wants to leave." Howie said looking up at Breanna as she stood in the doorway. "Well, I'm ready." Breanna replied. "Okay, we're outta here!" AJ said, grabbing one of Breanna's bags. Nick, Brian, and Kevin each carried out the flowers and balloons that Breanna and Howie had received from friends and family. It hadn't been announced to the public about the birth of the baby but Breanna and Howie had decided to sit down later that day and write a press statement themselves. Howie carried Anna in her carrier while Eve, Izabel and Breanna walked out of the room. "Whatever happened to wheelchair service?" Izabel jokingly asked. "They don't do that anymore." Eve stated. "Well that sucks! After all that pain, they expect you to walk all the way to your car." Izabel complained. Nick walked next to Brian deep in thought. "Hey Nick?" Breanna asked. Nick looked over his shoulder and smiled slightly. "Yeah, Bree? What's up?" "Natasha said she'd call you later tonight." Breanna replied. Nick stopped walking for a second and turned around with a cute half grin on his face. "Really?" He asked. "Yup! Really." Nick smiled before turning around to continue walking. "Thanks, Bree!" Nick replied. "No problem." She answered.
"Uh oh." Kevin said once they were all in the elevator. "Okay...there are a few words in life a woman never wants to hear. 'Oops' is one of them. 'Uh-oh' is the other. So far, I've already heard you say 'oops' over a year ago." Eve said. Kevin blushed slightly before he continued to talk. "Um, well...I think we have company outside." He replied, pointing out the elevator glass. Howie turned around and noticed a few camera crews outside. "Uh-oh" AJ said, slightly mocking Kevin. "Okay..here's the plan. You two are getting off on the next floor." Kevin demanded, pointing to Breanna and Howie. "We'll go to get our cars and bring 'em up the back entrance. Keep an eye out the window and when you see us pull up then come on down. Hopefully we can get out of here without the media seeing us." Kevin explained as he pushed the elevator stop button. The doors parted before Breanna and Howie stepped out. "See ya in 5 minutes!" AJ stated as they continued down.
"Well, I guess there goes that press statement." Breanna joked. Howie smiled slightly as he sat down on the ground leaning against the wall. She could tell that Howie was thinking about something. He felt Breanna watching him and looked up. "What's bothering you?" She eventually asked. "Nothing." He mumbled. "You're lying." She replied as she turned to look out the window. Ten minutes had passed and the others were nowhere to be seen. Breanna was becoming impatient. "I don't think I can stand her not being around me." Howie said out of nowhere. "What?" Breanna turned around slightly shocked by his sudden outburst. "Anna. Bree, I don't want her living away from me. I don't want *you* living away from me." He said. "So, what are you trying to say?" She asked. "I don't know. I guess I just want you both to stay with me. No..." He paused. "...I want you both to live with me." He almost whispered. He looked up at her, expecting to see Breanna angry with him but instead she was kneeling down in front of him. "No matter how much I want to be on my own, I can't keep her away from you. And I won't keep you away from her. You're her father." She replied, placing her hands on his knees. "So? Are you going to stay with me?" Breanna gave him a weak smile before leaning over. "Yes." He tilted his head slightly before leaning in for a soft kiss. Breanna broke the kiss and looked into his eyes. She slowly kissed his eyelids causing him to smile, before moving to his ears. She nibbled on his earlobes and whispered something in his ear. He closed his eyes and grinned as she continued to nibble on his ears before moving down to his neck. He exhaled sharply and pushed her away. She smiled at his reaction before he cupped her face. He smiled back at her and leaned in for a long kiss. Things were starting to heat up until a voice broke into their thoughts. "Oh c'mon! Get a freakin' room! Are you two planning to do that shit in front of your daughter all the time?" Nick joked. "Huh?" Breanna questioned as she pulled away smiling at the rise she got out of Howie. "Why aren't you downstairs?" Howie asked as he stood up, blushing. "Hell, man! We've been waiting for 10 minutes for you two. I should be asking why *you're* not downstairs but I guess I walked in on the answer." Nick joked as they all walked towards the elevator.
