Chapter 74, Forgetting Something

Kevin called the airlines and ordered 6 plane tickets. Sarah didn't need a ticket on account of her age but Thomas was old enough to require one. After the tickets were ordered Kevin ran back upstairs to help Eve pack up their things. "What are we taking for Sarah? The portacrib?" "No, Breanna made a room for Sarah with everything she'll need. All we need are diapers, clothes and food." Eve replied as she ran around her room packing Sarah's clothing. Kevin sat on the bed playing and talking with the baby. He loved spending time with her more than anything. He knew he wanted to be a parent, but he never expected the feelings he was having for his daughter. They were stronger than anything he had ever felt before. Kevin laid on the bed with his knees up, pillows piled underneath his head. Sarah sat on his stomach, her back resting against his thighs. He looked into her small green eyes and smiled when he reminded himself that her eyes were a mirror image of his own. "Kevin, I know you love Sarah, but you really need to pack and call the guys." Eve stated as she walked over to the bed. "Yeah, I guess." Kevin muttered as he handed Sarah to Eve. Kevin grabbed the cordless and dialed Brian's number. "Hey Cuz, what's the story?" Brian asked. "We're leaving at 10. Try to be at the airport no later than 9. I'm not sure if there will be any fans, but if there are, we'll need that extra time to get to the plane." Kevin explained. "Okay, I'm gonna go finish packing. See ya on the plane." Brian replied, quickly hanging up.

Nick glanced at the clock that stated 7pm. "What time are we supposed to leave cause I gotta run home and pack my things." Nick asked Brian. "Huh? Oh, Kevin said we're leaving at 10. So if you leave now, you'll get to your house by 8 PM. You'll barely make it, buddy." Brian stated. "Nick, you need to buy a house that's local" He added. "Shit...Fuck it, I'm gonna go home and pack. I'll just haul ass to the airport. I'll call Natasha from LA and explain what's going on. I'll see you at the airport. If I don't make it in time, leave without me. I'll catch a later flight!" Nick shouted as he grabbed his car keys and ran out the door. Brian watched the door slam and shook his head. His hangover was subduing but loud noises still bothered him.

AJ walked in his front door and looked around. "Man, I'm never home. I didn't even know I had that piece of art on my wall!" He complained as he walked up stairs. Once he finally made it to his room, he glanced at his reflection in the mirror. His hair was brown with dark blue highlights. His goatee was trimmed nicely and his tattoos looked new. His recent trips to the gym were obvious as the muscles in his arms looked large and firm. His loose fitting gray pants and tight fitted black shirt were enough to drive any fan wild but AJ didn't care. He relished the attention. After some mental debating he decided to change his clothes. He put on his thick black pants and a clingy white long sleeved shirt. He put on a burgundy violet cap over his hair and black low-cut dress shoes. He took out his thick black Nautica jacket to carry on the plane. He knew LA was freezing and didn't want to take any chances. Hey grabbed his laptop out of the closet, a few of his favorite CDs, and two suitcases. One he loaded up with enough clothes for two weeks, and the other he tossed his more personal belongings in. He wanted to keep that suitcase as empty as possible; his future shopping escapades in Santa Monica would fill it for the trip home. He looked around his room and headed downstairs. He made a few phone calls asking his mom to house and pet sit. Before long his clock read 8 PM. He jumped in his car and took of back towards Brian's house.

Nick made it home within 35 minutes, a record for him. He jumped out of the car and ran towards the front door. Once he was inside the house he made a quick mental check list of all the things he would be needing. He entered his bedroom almost out of breath and walked straight towards his closet. He dug out his suitcases and tossed clothes and personal objects in them at random, not bothering to fold anything. He left his oversized Tommy jacket out to carry on the plane and grabbed his laptop. He called his neighbor and asked them to keep an eye on the house and to feed his dogs. Before he knew it, thirty minutes had passed. He ran around the house and grabbed whatever else he planned to take along. "Oh, that new game!" He shouted as he leapt over the coffee table to grab the new Playstation game he bought the day before. He was planning on playing with Alexei but quickly decided to leave it. "We'll play it later." He told himself as he walked back towards the front door. He loaded up his car quickly and ran back into the house to set the alarm. Once he was back in his car and on the road, he called Brian. "Hey man, I'll be there in less than 30 minutes. Don't leave for the airport, wait for me." Nick clicked off the phone after hearing Brian agree so he could concentrate on the road.

Nick arrived at Brian's house at 8:30 to find AJ's car in the driveway. Nick walked into the door with his luggage in hand. He had his laptop, two suitcases and backpack. He let everything crash down on the living room floor with a thud and looked up at AJ and Brian with a sheepish grin. "Sorry, they were too heavy." Brian made a motion with his hands to forget it. "I'm forgetting something." Brian mumbled as AJ went outside to load up Brian's car with his luggage. "Uh, dude? I think I know what it is." Nick stated. "Yeah?" Brian asked, his head was still throbbing slightly. "Yeah, your son." Nick replied. "OH HOLY FUCKIN SHIT!" Brian shouted as he ran to the nearest phone. Nick's eyes were wide; he had never heard Brian swear like that before. "Hey, this is Brian. I'm on my way to pick up Thomas. Alright, thanks!" Brian quickly replied. "Nick, I'm going to pick up Thomas. Pack his things for me, please?" Brian begged. "Only if I get the window seat." Nick replied. "Fine, take the damn seat. Pack his things. We only have twenty minutes!" Brian shouted. Brian grabbed his car keys and ran towards the front door. He pushed AJ aside and hopped in his car. Once he was out of sight, Nick started to laugh hysterically. "What happened?" AJ asked with wide eyes. "Brian.....forgot....Thomas!" Nick managed to get out. "No shit? How the fuck does someone forget their own kid?" AJ asked incredulously. "I dunno, but he did it." Nick continued to laugh.

15 minutes later Brian arrived home with a sleeping Thomas. He carried him inside as the other two stared at him. "What?" Brian asked accusingly as he set Thomas down on the couch. "How did you forget your own son, man?" AJ asked. "I don't know." Brian sighed as he walked towards his room to grab his luggage. "Did you pack his things?" Brian asked Nick on his way upstairs. "They're ready to go and his jacket is on the couch so he can carry it on." Nick replied loudly so Brian could hear him. "Thanks!" Brian shouted back. Nick glanced at the clock and stood up quickly. "Bri, it's 9:15! I'm gonna go toss my things in your car. We're late!" Nick shouted as AJ stood up to help him. Brian ran back down the stairs with his luggage. He walked briskly towards the front door as Nick and AJ took Thomas' luggage to the car. Once the luggage was loaded up, AJ picked up Thomas and buckled him in his car seat. Nick set the house alarm while Brian hopped in the driver seat of the car. A moment later everyone was off to the airport.
