Goals for the Immediate Future

Usually when someone is going through Transition, there are steps you have to follow set up by the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care, basically the wall that all T people look at when starting transition.

Now, there are several steps, some are still followed even though the sixth edition of the guideline takes them out of the picture.

  1. Determining that your Transgendered.
  2. Go to a therapist who is versed with Gender issues.
  3. Make sure that its not a passing thing.
  4. Determine exactly what you want to do, to transition of not to transition; determine just how far your willing to go if you do want to transition.
  5. Have your therapist tell you their impression
  6. Start gathering funds and/or looking into health plans that youve researched will pay for what you want.
  7. If your therapist agrees that you are most likely Transgendered, getting the name of a second therapist to confirm it.
  8. After they both have verified that your Trans you can ask for letters of recommendation for Hormones.
  9. Talk to your employer, explain things, if possible and/or wanted get a transfer to another office where people don't know you as the sex your coming from.
  10. Get on hormones.
  11. Name change.
  12. Gathering funds for SRS.
  13. Change sex and name on your drivers liscence.
  14. Talk to the draft people, you'll get registered as someone incapable of the military.
  15. Continue seeing your therapist
  16. Find a surgeon with results you like.
  17. Ensure that you have enough funds for the surgery.
  18. Get letters of recomendation from your therapist for your surgery.
  19. Schedual a date for SRS with a surgeon who youve researched gives the results you want.
  20. Make travel accomidations.
  21. Find someone thats willing to go with you and take care of you when youre recovering.
  22. Get better.
  23. If you need revision on your first surgery, schedual that. (depending on the Dr. you chose this may be free or it might cost a pretty penny)
  24. If you want to go further in transition, start saving up again.
  25. Get your social Security changed, this is going to cost from $50-$300, and is just a hassle.

I'll probably be adding more, but this is all I can really think of right now...
