It feels very good to have the time to sit down and write, finally. The last few days have been unbelievably busy. And just think, I'm only 15. I can barely imagine what life will be like thirty years from now. That was one of the questions I was asked during the personal interview of the Academic Decathlon. Just to let all of you know, I won a medal for Honors (Outstanding) Personal Interview - Fourth place, but one of the people who interviewed me was kind enough to come up and tell me that I deserved a first place medal. She told me that I was the best interview she had all day, that I was positive, forward, and I answered all my questions at the right lengths. It made me very pleased when I heard this, but it made me wonder why I'd gotten fourth. For the last few days, my schedule has been like this . . . Friday was swing dancing until late at night. Swing dancing was an amazing adventure. I was tired to begin with, but the dancing was worth it. I didn't dance very well per se - possibly because of the many things on my mind, but I certainly had a good time. Ruth baked a "Sword" cake (cake shaped like a sword) for her boyfriend Jake. It was really cool, and definitely tasty. The entire night just went well. It was one of those moments where one just feels great. And I still feel great about it, so I would say it was more than worth the $10.00. Saturday at 6:00, my mom and I woke up, ate breakfast, then drove to Elsie Allen (High School) for the Academic Decathlon. I was tired. I wanted to be. I was dreading the situation to begin with, and I figured going into it tired would help things. It really did. The tests were a challenge, but were extremely fun. I enjoyed thinking about each individual problem, contemplating the history, the subject, the word "nature" (which was the theme). Everything went very well except for my Improvisational speech. That was a miserable failure! I ended up stuttering and forgetting my thesis. I really didn't care, and still don't though. So I'm not going to worry about it. We picked up a pizza after the awards ceremony. After pizza, I dressed up in a suit for the first time in my life. My parents said I looked really sharp. I was wearing my Dad's jacket, and my Grandpa Bob's shoes. Bob meant a lot to me when he was alive. I was named after him. When the pictures develop, perhaps I will upload one of me in dressed up form. It might be interesting to see the comparison. Turn About itself was pretty lame. I thought Katie and I were going to dance a lot, but we really didn't. The music wasn't even that great. There were however, quite a few really neat things that happened at the dance. My friend Victoria, who is probably one of the sweeter people I know, (on the inside, but not on the outside . . . it's a mean thing to say, but it's a nice way to put it I suppose), and myself danced jitterbug swing style to a song at turn about and managed to get our picture taken. We will be in the yearbook because of it - the photographer said we were one of the neatest couples there. The funniest thing is that we're not even remotely a couple. Sunday, which is today, was also a good day. I suppose. I didn't really get a chance to do many of the things I have been longing to do for the past few days, but instead I got to do something of far more importance. The day started around 10:00, which really was pretty early considering I went to bed around 12:00, and had only slept for a few hours the night before. I quickly ate breakfast and went to my friend Ryan's at 11:00, and stayed till around 1:00. At 1:00, my parents picked me up, and we drove to Grandma's house in the city. She has been transferred home because she is doing well. It was absolutely wonderful to see her in the condition that she was in - happy, and at home. This is how I want to remember her. I talked to my parents about a business idea today. If I become rich and famous, this could be one of the ways it starts. This is the first time I've touched a keyboard in three days. I'm starting to look for a job on Sundays. I plan on searching for one tomorrow in the Career Center at school. We have a great manager there, who helps teenagers to find jobs on specific days during specific hours. She's a wonderful help to many individuals such as myself. I have an English test tomorrow in vocabulary. It shouldn't be a problem, because I can study for it. The math test didn't go over quite as well as I had hoped, but such is life I suppose. I can't remember going into any quarter doing well on a math test. Then again, I can't remember getting a bad grade in math at the end of one either. Therefore, I fret not. I wrote a really neat story. It's called, "Tales of Serendipity". I'll upload it along with the entry tomorrow. My instructor was looking at one of my books that I'm reading. She accidentally kept it. I'm going to have to mention that to her on Monday. Silly Ms. Walker taking Julius Caesar :). Take care my friends.
