The Mountain Homeschool Group THIS SITE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION Welcome to the Mountain Homeschool Support Group. We are a Christian based group, formed to meet the needs of families of homeschoolers in the Jefferson County area. The goal of this group is to provide information, fellowship, and encouragement to the members. We are not a formal group, and frivolity is taken very seriously!! We do, however, work hard to provide the group services and information that we need, as we homeschool our children. Our membership is open and is not limited by denomination, or church affiliation, but it is united by a belief in Jesus Christ and his Salvation and Lordship in our lives. We are associated and participate with the Jefferson County Christian Homeschoolers. From this group you can expect support from friends, a monthly Mom's Support Group, a monthly newsletter, information on issues that will affect homeschoolers, and field trip opportunities for your children. For membership in this group, there are two requirements: The first requirement is the purchase of a yearly subscription to the Homeschool Herald, our student written, monthly newsletter. This newsletter will keep you informed of all the activities that our group sponsors, and any information from the 3 other support groups in our county. The subscription price this year will be $12. The second requirement for membership is that you plan one activity of your choosing during the school year. This activity can be limited to a particular age group or size. You will be responsible for gathering the information on costs, directions, times, etc. and planning and presenting the information to the group. Every familly will not always be involved in every activity, but with each member planning an activity, there will be many opportunities for all ages in our homeschool group. The Mountain Homeschoolers Support Group meetings will be held at different homes on the last Sunday evening of each month at 7:30. Guests are always welcome. Bring your ideas, worries, encouragement and curriculum ideas to share. This group is here to serve you and to give you an opportunity to serve others. Please pray for each other, learn from each other, and ENCOURAGE each other. We are very excited to have such a large support group and are looking forward to our adventure together.
