The Life... |
|

|
| Eternal Life.� That is what we are promised and that is our HOPE in Jesus.� From the very beginning ALL people have sought to find some sort of eternal life.� Most people want to explain it by talking about life, or more specifically what happens when life "stops" and we die.� Most Christians see the gift of eternal life from the standpoint of the second word... LIFE.� But to truly understand eternal life you need to understand "ETERNAL".� Eternity is that length of time starting at one point in time and going on forever.� The "life" that we are promised is eternal and it can start for you THIS moment and go on forever.� |

When we start to look at things like Heaven and Hell we lose sight of what Jesus really sacrificed for us and we lose sight of what sort of eternal life He gave us.� We tend to hear about the sacrifice of His death, but His greatest sacrifice was His LIFE.� He left the throne of Heaven to come to earth as a baby who couldn't even clean His own soiled diapers.� Once here He led the life of a humble carpenter and a simple wanderer.� It would be like the President of the USA having a dinner for all the Heads of State and then staying in the kitchen to wash the dishes.� In fact it was far more than that because Jesus is God but allowed Himself to be "ruled" by mere men, all the while knowing that He would pay for it with His life. |

But His price paid for us to have Life...� and THAT was the plan.� The reason so many people who claim to be Christians appear to be like everyone else is because they are.� They haven't found the LIFE that Christ promised.� You see Christ told us that we would do ALL He had done and even greater things.� When Christ was crucified He didn't "lose" His life, He gave it to US.� Sure He physically died and was resurrected in three days, but when He arose He arose as the "Head" and gave us the chance to be His body...� The BODY of Christ.� We now have the chance to LIVE!!!� You now have the chance, through Christ's sacrifice on the cross, to begin your eternal life.� Just like sunlight and water bring a seed to life, now the SON of God and the water of baptism can bring you to life.� You can become a NEW CREATION... a creation that is NOT like "man", but like the "Son of man".� Christ has provided the means for us to return to a daily and intimate relationship with God.� Once again we can "stand naked before God and feel no shame", just like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Paradise.
This life is a life that mimmicks Jesus.� It is a life of humble servitude and mighty power.� It is a life of intimate trust in the Creator of the Universe.� It is a life filled with the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit upon you daily.� It is a life that possesses an indescribable love, and a never ending duty.� Contrary to common belief, it is NOT an easy life to obtain.� I caution you all to remember that Jesus was clear in His teaching that finding and ENTERING the Kingdom of God is VERY difficult.� But God is standing by this very minute ready to bring forth the very POWER that created the world.� God is waiting this very minute for you to humbly ask Him to use that power to create new life in you.� A life that can light the world.
I won't walk you through a lot of steps here.� If you are ready to admit that you KNOW in your heart that you are cut off from God because of your sin, humbly ask in the name of Jesus for help.� That simple prayer will set in motion ALL the power of Heaven to bring you into the Kingdom of God.� God is standing there now, waiting with the loving, open arms of a Father.� He's waiting for you to come home. |
