Anbar's Concert Review
Wango Tango, June 13th with FANatics by Anbar
Ok, we had a crazy day on Saturday. The week before itself was crazy enough. What happen was a little bit after the Tony performance, where we met Ricci, MTV e-mailed her about this new show. The show is called FANatic where the fans are chosen to interview their favorite music group/singer and what do you know, they were looking for the biggest 'N Sync fan. So, me and and a friend Justina called. They didn't call me back but they did call Justina. So the same day they interviewed her they asked for a video of her and other people of how big of fan she is..this is the highest thing you get. So then they said they'd know by Monday (two days after Wango Tango).
Ok now for the day of Wango Tango Ricci said we were going backstage
because she knew this person that works for KIIS fm. So we made the plan about right
before *N Sync starts singing their last song Ricci would come and get us to go
backstage...so 'N Sync came out after Amber (we got there just in time because we got
lost) they sang TUMH, you got it, IDMC, and that's when Ricci came to get us. Little
did we know that Ricci planned this since Thursday. So we go to the hallway thing and all
these cameras come up to my friend Justina....SHE WON THE MTV THING! Let me tell you we
were screaming so much! We were jumping up and down like crazy. Then they took her away
and none of us were allowed to go. Then I ran back to my seat just in time for the ending
of IDMC, the beatbox thing, and IWYB. I told her boyfriend and my brother and his friends
what happened and they were all in shock! I still was too! So after 'N Sync some of us met
up outside to figure out what happened. She was backstage (not with *N Sync yet) and then
later on she drove around in a limo and then they took her to a hotel (her parents and
friend that was with her since someone over 18 had to be with her knew about it so they
had her clothes and stuff) They filmed her from the time they took her until she slept.
Next morning she woke up early (she only got 3 hours of sleep) and they took her to a
bowling alley...though she was in the limo for an hour until 'N sync got there. So she got
to interview them (with some of my questions! I'm so happy she asked them) and they bowled
too. Ok imagine this...the guys and bowling..she came over as soon as she got home and
told me EVERYTHING that happened...let me tell you it will be the funniest interview ever!
It'll air sometime in July and I'll you guys know and when to look out for me:oP (I'll be
on for like a sec since I was with her when they told her). Hmm..I feel like I'm
forgetting something..oh yeah! Justina gave them a letter that I wrote for them and
attached to it was our last newsletter along with all your e-mail addresses.

I didn't realize this but a lot of you were knew about this and was interviewed
yourselves...I know all of you had your hearts set on it because I know I did and I didn't
even get a call back! And I'm sorry to all of those that didn't get picked.
Back to the concert... I met up with Ricci and KC who are both nonmembers and member Christine [email protected] and I didn't see trace and Kate but I did talk to them later on. And Kell and Sha was in the section right above me but I couldn't find them. 'N Sync was the second best group...Wyclef was the best cause a lot of hip hoppers (like my brother and his friends) were there..but he didn't even sing that much...and the guys with me even said they were great dancers!
Robin's Concert Review
*N SYNC tour July 26 1998 by Robin

![]() |
On Sunday (July 26) I went back to Washington, DC to see *N SYNC again! hee! I
took my best friend Amber and my cool buds Stef and Patty came too. We were later joined
by my friend Doananh and her friends. the opening act was N-Tyce. they were OK and people
seemed to like them. then security said the first three rows got to go up and stand near
the stage. I went up there but I left after the guys came on because I was getting
seriously smuished and pushed! I went back to the third row and squeezed in front to the
second row. Instead of going into details about each song I'm going to share highlights of
what i can remember. Since most of you have seen the Disney show you know their basic
routine. They opened with "Crazy for You" and JC did the slow

part from the Disney concert. Then they sang "I Just Wanna Be With You". Next was the introductions and they each came out one by one and harmonized a little bit individually. JC was losing his voice!!! They did the cool BeeGess medley and They did the sunglasses thing in Giddy Up.. JCs were tinted purple, Joey and Justin's were clear and Chris and Lance had yellow I think. Then they came out with HUGE super soakers and squirted everyone! Chris kept getting the top of my head. they were shooting over and out above me. And they also got my photo that i bought all wet. Then Lance got me in the head. it felt good cos it was HOT in there! Then they left and Chris came back and sat down and said "The guys think I'm nuts, and I know sometimes you all think I'm mad but I DRIVE MYSELF CRAZY!" and he started singing and the rest of them came out one by one. The crowd did the arm swaying thing on their own. Joey

was shaking hands with people in the crowd and he took Amber's hand and sang to her!! JC waved and smiled at me cos I was waving his 4th season picture from MMC. Then they sang"I Want You Back". Justin let the crowd do "you're the one I want/you're the one I need/tell me girl what can i do?" He yelled for us to sing louder after the first line so we had to yell really loud! During the backflips Joey dropped JC on his butt! JC was able to catch himself with his hand though. Joey kept gving JC these looks like "I'm sorry man!" and JC kept smiling like "it's OK!" JC was a ittle bit hyper and he was sticking out his toungue and stuff but he seemed tired. Even Chris wasn't as bouncy as usual. After IWYB they left to change clothes. They came out in black jean jackets, black jeans and white button down shirts. The jackets ahd white dragons on the back. Except Joey... his was dark blue and his dragon was in color and Justin had on a wife beater instead of the button down shirt. He is such a tease because he would get closer and closer to the stage and then back off just as the girls reached out to him. But he did shake hands with a little little girl sitting on her mom's shoulders. the next song was "Here We Go". did more watergun squirting , the Yes Yes Yes Here We Go/ N SYNC

has Got the Flow contest. They didn't really compete but Joey said that JC's family was on his and Justin's side so they better not lose! I don't think either side won. then they finished HWG. Next was For The Girl... and JC came out by himself and squeaked about how this song is about the one thing material possesions can't get you and blah blah. And the song was cool cos they had a sax player in the band and Justin sang the second verse. After that they said goodnight and left for a bit, then they came back for an encore and did TUMH. My fave part of "TUMH" is 'down on my knees" where they all kneel down facing the audience . They were going CRAZY!!! Joey took off his jacket and shirt and was wearing a black tank top. WOOHOO he is BUILT !!! And some girl threw JC a bunny but he just picked it up. And then they left for real! =-(
here are some misc. highlights I can't remember the order of! They introduced the band and JC was gushing over Dax the 20 year old keyboard player . (some of you may know him from the Florida's *N SYNC site). And each band member played a bit and JC and Lance were the only ones dancing. they were grooving a bit. Lance played some air guitar and Chris had this weird look on his face. Joey was busy fanning the drummer and Justin looked tired. They sang "You Got It" in there soemwhere and they also did a MEGA funky dance number. It started with them singing some popular song lyrics and then I SWEAR they were dancing to that pony ride song by Ginuwine but it was hard to hear. I THINK they may have had some supdadupafly in there. Then they left the stage and came back and Chris and Justin came out walking on their hands, they kept beating each other up and Justin "shot" chris with an air machine gun. Chris fell on the stage and kept twitching around like he was dying and then he made a face, stuck his tonuge out and 'died". It was funny!! Lance pushed JC and JC rolled over and did a flip. They kept beating each other up. It was definately very cool!
Anyways, my final thoughts are.... GO SEE THE LIVE SHOW!!! You may be deaf for a day and a half but it's really cool and worth every minute! p.s they check bags so don't bring any recording devices!! I learned the hard way!
Stephanie's Concert Review
July 30th, Cleveland Ohio By: Stephanie
Well the concert was July 30, 1998, at 7:30 at the Odeon Concert Club in Cleveland, Ohio. I had band camp that day until 4 o'clock so right after that, I went to Colleen's house. I changed my clothes, did my makeup and got everything ready for the concert. Her dad came home and we jetted off to get Tina. We got Tina and stopped real quick at McDonald's to get a quick bite to eat and then headed out to Cleveland. The way out there was interesting. We were just cruising along and we get off at the right exit and totally miss the turn. LOL! We could only go left and we needed to go right. Whoops! So we stopped at a BP station and asked for directions. We followed those directions and finally to the Odeon...
When we got to the Odeon we drove by, looking for parking, and I saw this line and I am all like, "Is that for the *N Sync concert?" Wow! So we park and stuff and go and stand in line. We had like two hours until the concert started... We're standing there in line and I am telling Colleen and Tina we should lead everyone in *N Sync songs. They wouldn't let me make a scene! LOL. I wanted to sing but NO! LOL. (I love you guys!) I said that if those people were real *N Sync fans they would have been singing already...oh well!
When we got in there I totally found out how small the Odeon truly is. Wow. It is so small. There are like hundreds of people trying to fit into this little space. I felt so bad cause I was practically squishing this little girl next to me every time someone pushed their way thru! Then this big old, I MEAN BIG, dude comes thru thinking he can fit his fat self thru. Uh huh honey! That is when I was totally squished. ugh. yuck.. We are standing there just chilling and stuff you know, filling in the empty spots and stuff and these dudes go by us heading up front towards the stage. I saw the one guy and I was like gee he looks familiar....he touched my shoulder and was like, "Excuse me." (You will find out who it was later!)
So finally the show starts. N Tyce was the first act. They were pretty good. I had never heard their music before....
Well then *N Sync finally came out! OH WOW! They came out and were in these white nylon jumpsuit things and had on white helmets with black visors and glow in the dark strips so you couldn't tell who was who. They did some cool dances and stuff and everyone was going so crazy. :) You know I was!! It was really cool. They tore off the suits and were dressed it silver (my favorite color) basketball jerseys. Oh baby! :) They opened up with "Crazy For You." They went off stage and then each person came on, one by one. They would do a little harmonizing and then they would come out. Kind of like, "GUESS THAT *N SYNC MEMBER". :) Finally they all got out there and they are like, "Hey we are *N Sync and we are glad to be here in Cleveland..." Joey had Lance say a "HELLO CLEVELAND" in his lowest possible voice. OH HOW SEXY!! (I'm not shure when though...) They sang the Bee Gees Medley a cappella next. That was sweet. I was all excited. :) I especially liked them singing "Stayin' Alive." Chris can totally reach the high notes like in the original song. :) GO CHRIS! :) Third was "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time On You." I almost cried!!! :) It was so beautiful. They did the same dance with the mic moves as in the Disney concert. Aww...The next song was "I Drive Myself Crazy" I believe. They pulled out the stools and stuff and just chilled there and serenaded the audience. Fifth was "Giddy Up"

and I loved it. Man they are such cuties! They did the same thing (most of the show) as the Disney concert. They came walking all cool out onto the stage with the shades on and stuff. YEAH!! :) I loved that.... :) Um the next song I think was "I Want It". (You can have it!) Seventh was "For The Girl Who Has Everything." JC did a little intro into it saying that it was for all the ladies in the house and stuff. Aw, what a sweetheart! :) Next was the hit song, "I Want You Back." The whole audience was jammin' to that one!!! The audience was like a huge elbow to elbow party! I'm telling ya!!! :) The next song that *N Sync sang was "Here We Go." They paused the song in between and did the thing where they split up the audience. Me and my friends were on JC and Lance's side. :) YEAH! :) :) :) Justin and Joey's side said "YES YES YES HERE WE GO" and my side said "*N SYNC HAS GOT THE FLOW!" My side had more people so it wasn't really fair...oh well. It was still awesome!! After that song they got off the stage and no one was leaving in the audience! We all started chanting *N SYNC *N SYNC!! So then they came back out and sang their latest hit, "Tearin' Up My Heart." Oh be still my heart!! :) LOL. oh yeah. They did this thing in the middle of that song where they are like, "When I say *N you say SYNC". I always like that....oh yeah! :) Uh huh! The they all said goodbye and slowly walked off the stage....
Here are a few other things that happened that I just forgot when! :) They changed their clothes sometime in there. They had on button down colored shirts now. They were good...:) Justin had on a wife beater under his. OH BABY!! :) :) Yeah uh huh!!! (Milk does a body good!) They had this huge Super Soaker water guns and were spraying the audience. I got sprayed by Lance and Chris. :) I think I got a little of JC's too though. That was cool...literally! (We were all hot and sweaty. Yuck.) Sometime towards the middle of the concert, Joey introduced the band. They introduced the guitarist, Rueben. I looked at him and I was like, "NO WAY! That is the dude that like walked by me and touched my arm and said excuse me!" I was all excited. Then I remembered where I saw him...the Disney concert! DUH!!!!
Um that is about it! The concert was incredible. I took lots of pictures that I hope to develop soon. My friend took one roll, I took two rolls and we found one roll on the floor already rolled up so we took that one! :) Love always and stay *N SYNC!!!! Stephanie
Micah's Concert Review
August 2nd, Janesville By Micah *also her story how she met Krista
This was the best day of my life!!! My dad and I left home around
8:00 AM. The drive was long and we were set back a half an hour on a detour, but we
finally got to Janesville around 1:00 PM (sooner than we expected). We decided to go to
the hotel and check in before heading to the fairgrounds. As we pulled into the parking
lot, we saw a car there with Minnesota plates. It was kinda exciting cuz I was supposed to
meet a friend from Minnesota there. But I wasn't for sure that that was them. We went
inside the hotel. There were two people standing at the front desk. When she turned
around, I kinda thought it was her, but I didn't want to say anything right away. After a
few moments though, I looked at her again and said, "Krista?" She turned and
said, "Micah?" I was like WOW..this is really ironic that we're both here
earlier than planned AND in the hotel lobby at the same time. We talked for a little while
about our trip there and stuff. Then we went to our rooms. We were on the 3rd floor and
they were on the 2nd. My dad and I just put our stuff in the room and he changed. Then we
headed to the fairgrounds. When we walked in we headed directly for the grandstand. My
first thought upon entering the grandstand was "We're never going to get up
front!" There were blankets covering the entire lawn. I heard later that people had
been there since like 4 in the morning. Too bad that wasn't an option for us! I was kind
getting a little disappointed at this point. I mean I did NOT come 5 hours to sit way in
the back. While we waited for Krista and her dad to get there, my dad got something to eat
and I got a lemonade. I was not hungry at all!! I was nervous and excited all at once!!
The lemonade was kinda gross it had TONS of sugar in it...yuck! But anyways. After a
little while, Krista and her dad got there and found us. Then they decided to go get
something to eat. When they came back, my dad decided to go talk to the Secretaries office
to tell them how far we'd come and about my gifts (for those who don't know...I'd made
them each a pillow). When he came back, he said that the people there were really nice.
They said if I didn't get a chance to give the guys the personally to take them there and
they would make sure they got them. After they got done eating, Krista wanted to see the
pillows...and I decided this would be a good time to bring them into the fairgrounds. So
we wandered out to my car to get them. When I showed them to her she seemed to really like
them....and I HAD to explain how tough Joey's had been. If you wanna know...You cannot
find Superman fabric anywhere!! So what I did was I made my own iron-on of the Superman
logo and put it on there. It took a lot of extra work, but to me--Joey was worth it! All
the way back to the fairgrounds, Krista and I reminisced about MMC!! :-) We quoted some of
JC's famous lines (the ones from the Babysitter's Awards Skit) and laughed forever! When
we got back into the fairgrounds I decided I should just let the Secretary get the gifts
to the guys...I mean there was no chance I would get to. So when we dropped them off, they
assured they would get them to the guys AND tell the guys how far we'd come and stuff.
That was pretty good news to me. Then Krista and I decided to set out on a search for
"important people" who MIGHT have connections to get us backstage. The search
was pretty much hopeless...when we DID find someone, we were usually too scared to
say anything. And we had MANY perfect opportunities...we saw Billy their drummer like a
million times. But it wasn't until the show when we realized WHO he was!! :-P So then we
went back by where the buses were parked. We saw Ruben (the guitarist) and Dax (the
keyboard player) tons. But couldn't talk to them. Security was very heavy and with good
reason. There were people everywhere looking for N Sync!! The funny thing was, just by
looking at some of them you could tell who their fave was. We saw many girls with North
Carolina stuff on. Other girls had the name of their fave painted on some part of their
body. The odd thing--there were like lots of guys wearing Superman stuff (were they trying
to get Joey's attention? We don't know!). We wandered around the fairgrounds for
hours waiting for the time to be closer, but the day seemed to be going by really slow!
Around 4:30, Krista and I were back by the buses and around the stage. They were then
setting up a table for souvenirs. We each bought a souvenir picture and I got a T-shirt.
When their bus pulled up, everyone surrounded it. We could all recognize it from the
Disney Special!! Jimmy Ray got out of his limo and a few flocked to him, but not many. A
few minutes later a red bus pulled up. Lots of people said N Sync was on that one, but we
were sure they weren't so we stayed by the maroon colored bus. We knew were wrong the
minute they all started screaming! Then in the distance I could see Lance (*sigh*). I was
like "oh no!! we're in the wrong place!!" So we worked our way around by
the souvenir tables cuz you could see the guys get off the bus perfectly!! Lance must have
gotten back on the bus, cuz Joey was the only one we saw. The boy was already talking it
up with some chick!! :-) Then we saw Lance just kind of walking around...then he got back
on the bus. A few minutes later he came back off. This time he was on his cell phone
(wonder who he was talking to!). We were standing by this one girl who had like NO FEAR of
creating a scene. She yelled "Joey!" but I don't think he heard her. So a whole
group of us yelled "Joey" on the count of three. He grinned and kind of looked
our way, but he was in the middle of a conversation with someone. A little while later, JC
got off the bus. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt so he was easy to pick out. He waved
to all the fans (what a sweetie!!) and walked around a little. Then all the guys got back
on the bus except for Joey. He was still talking. Finally all of them got off and headed
for this little tent where the meet and greet was going to be held. Only reporters
and people who'd won backstage passes were allowed (*pout*). Krista and I decided the
excitement was over. So we went back to sit by our dads. By then it was about 6:30. Then
we thought "hey we should go check on my pillows." So we went to the Secretaries
office again and they said that they had given them to the guys as soon as they got
there!! I was so happy!!! All that was important was that they had gotten my gifts...one
way or another!! :-) Then we decided to go get something to eat before the concert
started. Once again, I was not hungry. When we got back to the grandstand we stopped cuz
someone was on stage singing the National Anthem. The first opening act was SOAP. I swear
they lip synched they whole thing!!! Then came Jimmy Ray. I'm really not a big fan of him,
so I wasn't too impressed. You could hardly understand what he was saying!! Then it was
time to set up for N Sync. This took about 20 min. The band warmed up and they did mic
checks. It was so funny. There were so many Justin fans there. They screamed when the
person said "Justin's mic, check one, two, giddy up." I was like Come ON!! it's
just his microphone!! When N Sync finally did come on stage they put on the most excellent
show!! They came out in space suits and did a dance thing to Star Wars music. This went on
for like 5 min. I was trying to figure out who was who...and I was right!! When they went
behind the little sheet to take off their space suits, I could see Joey (that was some
nice helmet hair!). I don't remember what order the songs were in but they did: Crazy For
You, You Got It, God Must Have Spent a Little More Time On You, I Want You Back, Here We
Go, Drive Myself Crazy, Rock With You, Bee Gees Medley thing, For the Girl Who Has
Everything, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Of course as many know, they had their
super soakers and had LOTS of fun squirting everyone. Luckily, Krista and I were too far
back for them to reach us! During one of the songs, JC was singing lead and Lance squirted
him in the back of the head. JC just kinda grinned and kept going!! They also did that
thing where they divide the audience in half. Justin and Joey's side said "Yes, yes,
yes here we go." and JC and Lance's side said "N Sync has got the flow."
Chris went back and forth. Krista and I were on JC and Lance's side (he he!!) and our side
was by far the loudest!!! While Justin and Joey's side was practicing, JC and Lance were
making some funny gesture saying "no prob. we can take them. they suck. we
rule." Those kinda things!! It was really fun!! The left the stage after one of the
slow songs. Everyone thought it was over. But Krista and I knew they couldn't leave
without doing Tearin Up My Heart. Sure enough, a few minutes later they were back doing
TUMH!!!!! Ha ha!! Then they left for real. And they had to leave Wisconsin right away to
be in LA by 10 the next morning (poor guys!). Krista and our dads and I walked around the
fairgrounds for awhile before heading back to the hotel. There we ordered pizza. I was
amazed to realize I hadn't eaten all day!!! Since like 8 that morning!! I guess I'd just
been too nervous and excited!! We talked and had fun!! Overall the performance was
spectacular!!! N Sync REALLY knows how to put on a good show. If anyone gets a chance to
go...GO!!!! You won't regret it! The guys were having fun on the stage--they love what
they do. And the audience just feeds off of that energy. It's amazing!! One of the best
parts of the trip though was meeting Krista. We really hit it off. It sure didn't seem
like that was the first day we met. To me it was like spending the day with my best
friend. And to think we came together cuz of 5 guys......what a cool thought. I'm so glad
I got to meet her and hopefully we'll get to meet again soon (she knows what I'm talking
about). I had a blast Krista and I hope you did too!!!
WELL THERE'S MY STORY! SORRY I GOT LONG WINDED...BUT HEY THAT'S ME. IT WAS AN
EXCITING DAY...DEFINITELY ONE I'LL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE :-)
