*N Sync Concert Reviews
Live Band Shows: Summer 1998
Sherri's Concert Review
August 8th Vancouver, Washington By Sheri
My friend Angela and I drove to Vancouver, WA from Tacoma for 3 hours before the show started at the fair. We ended up walking around about for a hour or so then decided to get in line to wait for 'N SYNC. I bought a souvenir poster that they were selling and I thought I spotted Justin but it turned out to be a crew member. Four people were walking by us with a cow (yes an actual barn yard animal) and going backstage behind a gate because apparently the guys ('N SYNC) wanted to touch the cow that they had at the fair before the show started. I thought that was funny. They started to let the fans in at 6:00 so we all waited an 1 and a half for the concert to start and it was packed. One of the announcers mentioned that this concert was the first sold out performance N SYNC had so far. At least a couple of hundred were there. 'N SYNC arrived early because a lot teeny-boppers were screaming in the first row. They sung happy birthday to JC about 4 different times. And every time they saw a shadow the assumed it was 'N SYNC Now the concert: Joey was the first to arrive on stage, then Lance, Justin, Chris then JC were all wearing black track pants with dark cream jersey shirts with blue numbers and looked fine as hell esp. Joey with his new look! They started with a dance intro that looked really smooth. After that they introduced themselves then went right into Tearin Up My Heart. Joey announced to the whole crowd that it was JC's birthday so he got everyone to sing happy birthday to JC and the guys handed JC a cake with candles on it. JC thanked the crowd and the guys. Well I'm not sure what the rest of the line-up was because of all the hype but they sung Here we Go, Lion Sleeps Tonight, Chris and Justin were joking a lot and Chris asked if anyone was in high school and had a boyfriend or girlfriend. Justin immediately came out then making fun of Chris behind his back. It was really cute, then the rest of the guys came back on stage, this was just before I Drive Myself Crazy. They also sung God must have spent..., they did some sort of medley and Justin of course did his human beat box. They ended the concert with I Want You Back and Joey thanked the crowd for having them, JC back-flipped across the stage and the rest of the guys were dancing as they said the final good byes. All and all it was a good concert. And the good was I made my way up to first row and got good pictures.
Lauren's Concert Review
N SYNC's Truth Tour Train concert, August 10,
1998 By: Lauren
The performance was AMAZING! It was an hour set -- longer than a normal track show, but shorter than a live band concert. They were the main act of a dance party for the Truth Organization against tobacco. My cousin and two of our friends arrived at the venue at 12:00pm (the concert was at 4pm) and there were already a number of girls there. Oh my goodness, up until like 1pm, everything was alright. My friends and I played cards and joked a little. But then at 2pm when they started getting ready to let people into the theatre it turned into a MADHOUSE!!!!!! Everyone was pushing and screaming, plus people were sweaty and smelly. It was not a good position to be in. I got like trampled on and squished up against the door. I also lost my cousin and friends at first, but then after being shoved through the entrance I caught up with them. When we got into the building we had to wait another hour in front of the theatre stage doors, and the pushing and shoving started again. then, while waiting, we found out that our tickets could only get us up to row S which was like right smack in the middle of the theatre. The seats closer to the stage were reserved for those in the Truth Organization (i.e. not me). It was depressing at first. Well, things started turning up when the concert started. Two local bands played a 30 minute and 45 minute set. Then LFO came on and sang for about 20 minutes. They were good, but I wanted to hear more. Then after LFO they had some guest speakers come on, and .......then came N SYNC!!!!!! They were amazing. Joey's got a new 'do. It's like the way JC had his hair in 1996. I don't really like it, but he still looks good. The guys were wearing these gray/silver warm up suits with a baby blue E in the middle. They came on and did their usual dance intro, then Tearin Up My Heart, You Got It, their intros, God Must Have...., Lion Sleeps Tonight, I Drive Myself Crazy, Here We Go, Beat box, and ended with I Want You Back. The guys were so hyped 'cause the crowd was so hyper. During their intros Lance said hello in a very very low voice. It was so cute. Then when Chris came out, he was like "I'm gonna try and talk like Lance." As he was trying, Lance came up behind him and said, "no no no, this is the way you do it." It was so funny. There were a lot of pelvic thrusting and butt bumping. It was too cute. Also during Here We Go, JC missed a dance step and Justin started laughing at him, but JC didn't get mad. And during I Want You Back Joey almost made JC fall on his butt, but JC saved himself by putting his hand down. The place was so hyped! Everyone was screaming and everything. Oh, and something really sad happened, throughout out the whole thing everyone was chanting N SYNC, N SYNC, during every act. I felt bad for the other people. then during one of the guest speaker's speeches, they were chanting and the guy left the stage 'cause he couldn't handle all the screaming, no one was listening to him. It was so rude of those people to do that. If you thought some of the fans here on the AOL boards are insane, you should come down to Miami and see the people here. They're CRAZY!!! They were all threatening to start fights if someone gets in their way of jumping on the stage, or if someone happens to bump into them 'cause they were being pushed in line, or if someone gets in their way of chasing N Sync's limo. You'd think that these people were little kiddies, but no way, these girls are like 16 years old and above (they had to be at least 16 'cause they were all making get away plans to jump in their cars and follow N Sync's limo where ever they were headed). Totally insane people. All in all the concert was INCREDIBLE, as always, but it was just torture getting in and out of the venue and having to deal with all the obnoxious and rude people in the audience (but seeing N SYNC made me feel better though). I only hope that none of y'all have to encounter the type of people I did.
Sara's Concert Review
Boise, Idaho concert on August 24th By: Sara
Okay..here goes, I got up to Boise on Sat the 22nd, but I didn't think that *N Sync was
going to be arriving in the Boise area until at least Sunday night...so starting Sunday
afternoon, my cousin's, my friends, my sister and I, made our way to the airport to
begin a 7 hour wait for any planes that might be containing *N Sync. Well we had no
luck..but driving home from the airport, we spotted a brand new five star hotel. We
decided that we would take a chance, so Monday afternoon at about 1:30, we decided to go
to the hotel. Well lucky us, the bellboys, asked us who we were looking for, and we said
*N Sync. You'd think that they would tell us that no *N Sync was located there, but boy
were we wrong..they told us that they had just taken them their lunch, and that they would
probably be down in the lobby of the hotel in a couple hours, cuz they had a sound check
and meet and greet to get to. So we waited, and while waiting we made friends with
the bellboys, who gave us up dates on what *N Sync was doing. Well one of the bellboys..his name was Josh..he's
going to be famous someday..he's in the process of recording his first album..so if you
ever see the name "JAE" on an album...buy it. So anyway...he was going to go
play Playstation with House after the concert, and Josh was going to invite my friend
Tamera, but he had just invited another girl. Anyway, just about that time House came
through the elevator, and told us, get this, nicely, that the guys wouldn't stop in the
lobby, but they would stop outside, so the six of us made our way outside, to wait some
more. Well there were three other girls there, and they had brought their car around, so
they could follow the guys' van, also went outside to wait, but they were back behind us..so they couldn't be seen my someone coming through the doors. Well we watched
Josh and House talk, and before we knew it...here comes *N Sync...through the elevator
doors. JC and Chris were waving at us through the doors, and actually were walking
up to us as they came outside, but the three girls who were behind us, made a bee-line
towards the guys, and before we knew it..House was pushing *N Sync towards their van in a
very hurried manner. JC and Chris got ahead of the others, and as JC was walking past my
sister she went up to him, to ask for an autograph...he turned around, and held out his
hand for her to shake..so she shook his hand. She then asked him to sign her CD, but the
three other girls had given all the guys gifts..so JC had
stuff in his hands..well he told my sister...Just a sec, and went to the van to put his
stuff away, but House made him get in. So since all the guys were by the vans, we decided
to yell stuff at them....(to the ones I've told this story to already you know what we
yelled) well we got them laughing...and during this the other three girls had gone and
gotten in their car..so the guys' attention was turned towards my group. Well JC and Chris
were sitting by the windows, and as they were getting ready to pull away, they both waved
good-bye to us, then they watched us as they pulled out of the hotel driveway. Well an
hour later at the concert...Chris was the first one to come out..and he looked right at
our group...(we had fifth row, and the concert was at 7:30, so it was still very light
out...we were in prefect view of them) and his face lit up, and he smiled and pointed in
our direction. I have many, many pics of JC looking right at the camera. Lance noticed us,
and mouthed something..but I'm still not sure why. Joey had his eyes on my sister and my
friend almost the entire concert...one part, I was doing this dumb little dance move, and
Justin saw me, and started doing the exact same thing. Well the guys were wearing
the same type of clothing...they were college basketball warm up jerseys. Justin's was
UNC..JC's was Michigan, Lance's was Duke, and I'm still not sure to what Joey's and Chris'
were. The concert was very short...they did their intro dance, TUMH, I Drive Myself Crazy,
Lion Sleeps Tonight, IWYB, Got Must of Spent, You Got It, the Bee Gees Medley, and they
did their whole little mix thing...that has Gone Till November, Gettin Jiggy With It..you
know what I"m talking about. Chris made the crowd do the wave...and he said that they
have done the wave many times, but Boise was one of the few places that actually did it
right. I'm not sure of what order they did everything..but after the concert, they
ran off the stage and into their vans, and were escorted back to their hotel. We found out
later, before the concert..that we weren't actually supposed to be at the
hotel...one of the bellboys was at the concert and he told us that..but it was still very
cool that they let us stay...Well that was my very first *N Sync concert, and it was an
awesome experience..I got tons of awesome pics, and I get to see them again on Sept
13th..so I can't wait now.
