Synopsis

Note: This synopsis came from Time-Warner's official Babylon 5 page.

Captain John Sheridan receives a shock when Anna, his wife who disappeared five years ago on Z'ha'dum, the homeworld of the Shadows, comes to Babylon 5. She had departed on the Icarus for a planned six-month scientific and archaeological mission, but it never returned and the 139 people aboard were believed to have died.

Dr. Franklin examines her, and she physically checks out, but Sheridan remains skeptical. Ensuring his safety, and claiming that Delenn, Kosh and the others had been misleading him, Anna pleads with John to go back with her to Z'ha'dum. Despite his fears that it might be a trap, Sheridan eventually agrees, but on the condition that she tell him exactly what happened to her and the Icarus when they landed on Z'ha'dum. Anna concedes and recounts the story.

Meanwhile, G'Kar arranges with the ambassador from Gaim for the delivery of several thermonuclear bombs. The plan is to learn where the Shadows next plan to strike so that they can mine the area with the devices.

Londo receives news that he has been offered a position in the royal court as advisor to Emperor Cartagia on matters of planetary security. He feels that they are reeling him in because now he is forced to divide his time between Babylon 5 and the Homeworld. Following the news, he receives a visit from a messenger instructing him to leave the station immediately.

Before boarding the White Star with Anna and departing for Z'ha'dum, Sheridan records a message to Delenn explaining his reasons for leaving. Upon their arrival, Anna takes him to a room where Morden is present, and introduces him to Justin who explains in detail who and what the Shadows are. Not wanting to kill him for fear of turning him into a martyr, Justin asks Sheridan to join their side, knowing the other races which he has organized to help fight the Shadows would be lost without his leadership. Not giving in, Sheridan confronts Justin about Anna, knowing that she was used to lure him to Z'ha'dum.

Back on Babylon 5, Shadow vessels have surrounded the station, poised for attack. Ivanova, who cannot figure out what they are waiting for, launches fighter squadrons instructing them not to approach until authorized. As if things couldn't get any worse, G'Kar informs Ivanova that two thermonuclear devices are missing.

Using a concealed PPG, Sheridan attempts to escape. On a parapet several miles above the city, he is left with nowhere to go. Using his link, he ignites the engines of the White Star, armed with the two missing thermonuclear devices set to detonate in 30 seconds. Sheridan jumps off the ledge as the devices come hurling toward the city.

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the Shadow vessels surrounding the station leave. G'Kar concludes that Sheridan is dead, and their departure was due to the fact that Babylon 5 no longer poses a threat. In addition, news comes that one of the fighters sent out by Ivanova is missing.
