Synopsis

Note: This synopsis came from Time-Warner's official Babylon 5 page.

A ceremony is held, including Babylon 5 crew members and Starfury pilots, to honor the memory and names of those who gave their lives defending Babylon 5.

Having seceded from Earth, groups of Nightwatch personnel are being shipped off Babylon 5, but some still linger. One of those siding with Nightwatch, a sniper (PAUL PERRI), seeks his own justice, and aims his rifle at Sheridan (BRUCE BOXLEITNER). At the last minute, he gets interrupted by Boggs (DON STROUD), also from Nightwatch, who claims the time isn't right and that he should wait.

Delenn (MIRA FURLAN) and Lennier (BILL MUMY) urge the crew and the key ambassadors to participate in a rebirth ceremony to commemorate the great change that is coming. The ritual includes a part for all participants to expose a personal secret.

Londo (PETER JURASIK) meets with Lord Refa (WILLIAM FORWARD), a fellow Centauri who he summoned to Babylon 5. Londo plays a tape of a past conversation he had with Mr. Morden, recounting how Lord Refa will help aid the Shadows in securing the planet. Londo, expressing his concern over the Centauri's unfocused aggression, feels that by drawing their attention to many smaller wars, they have weakened their main line of defense, making them a vulnerable target. He asks Refa to break off the relationship with Mr. Morden and poisons his drink to guarantee his cooperation. Londo also asks Refa to bolster the lines of defense around Centauri Prime or else he will receive the second half of the poison, which is certain to be deadly.

Meanwhile, Boggs and the sniper get new orders from Nightwatch instructing them to focus their aggression towards Ambassador Delenn, since she was the persuasive force who got the Minbari warships to protect Babylon 5. Their plan includes setting up Sheridan to make him look as if he had done it. When Lenann (KIM STRAUSS), a captain from one of the Minbari warships, requests permission to tour Babylon 5, Delenn agrees to escort them. On the way back from the docking bay, she, Lennier and Lenann are ambushed by a group of men, including Boggs and the sniper. Lennier, Lenann, Delenn and a Minbari aide are forced to go with their captors.

Boggs then links up a monitor to Sheridan, and issues orders for him to send the Minbari cruisers away within six hours or else he will kill Lenann and Delenn. To prove his threat, Boggs kills one of the Minbari aides wounded in the ambush. However, tracing sounds from the transmission, Sheridan, Ivanova (CLAUDIA CHRISTIAN) and Garibaldi (JERRY DOYLE) uncover the captures approximate location. In the meantime, Marcus (JASON CARTER) meets one of his contacts and uses force to get more specific information concerning the whereabouts of Delenn and Lenann.

Quickly losing patience, the sniper takes it upon himself to shoot Delenn, but Lenann manages to hurl himself toward the sniper, causing him to miss his target. However, in the ensuing fight, Lenann gets shot. As he turns to shoot Delenn, Boggs comes storming in, and argues to keep Delenn alive until their agreement is met.

Accessing past images on the security system, Sheridan and Garibaldi trick the captors in to believing the Minbari ships have left; and that Sheridan has surrendered. Knowing their location, Sheridan and Garibaldi plan a leak in the nearby fusion reactor which creates a diversion and sends Boggs and the sniper running. They are met by Sheridan's forces and a fight ensues. Boggs is subdued by Ivanova, while the sniper, having lost his gun, pulls out a knife and runs toward Sheridan. Seeing what is about to happen, Delenn runs in front of the knife and takes the impact intended for Sheridan. Sheridan chases after the sniper and captures him.

With Delenn recovering from her wound in Medlab, Sheridan requests the rebirth ceremony take place there, and confesses how much he cares for her. Garibaldi confesses that he is afraid, Ivanova divulges she loved Talia, while Franklin admits he has a problem. As her gift for participating in the ritual, Delenn gives them their new uniforms, which proudly displays the Ranger symbol and a new "Babylon 5" logo.
