Overview

A bomber threatens the security of the station. Babylon 5 receives some new residents.

Synopsis

Note: This synopsis came from Time-Warner's official Babylon 5 page.

Shortly after an anonymous warning of impending chaos is received, the station's DownBelow is ravaged by a horrible explosion. Around the same time, a band of Dominican monks from Earth arrive seeking residence on Babylon 5 in order to study the lives and religions of the various alien races. A second bomb explodes in the customs area just as Ambassador Delenn (MIRA FURLAN) is returning from a trip to Minbar. She is unharmed but Lennier (BILL MUMY) is injured as they help rescue a Centauri woman who has been trapped under heavy debris. G'Kar (ANDREAS KATSULAS), no longer an ambassador, is convinced that the Centauri are behind the bombings. Likewise, Ambassador Londo Mollari (PETER JURASIK) is sure the Narns are responsible for the problem.

As the explosions continue, Captain Sheridan (BRUCE BOXLEITNER), feeling that the bomber may want to survey his handiwork, suggests they scan the security surveillance tapes from the affected areas before, during and after the explosions. Commander Ivanova (CLAUDIA CHRISTIAN) enlists the help of Brother Theo (LOUIS TURENNE) and the other monks to take on the cumbersome, but crucial task. Meanwhile, Londo and G'Kar, sworn enemies, find themselves trapped in the same transport tube after it is disabled by one of the bombs.

Ivanova is surprised at how quickly the monks are able to solve the problem and identify the bomber as Robert Carlson (PATRICK KILPATRICK). When Security Chief Garibaldi (JERRY DOYLE) attempts to apprehend the bomber, Carlson asks to see Captain Sheridan and warns them that he's holding a remote device that will activate a hidden bomb strong enough to destroy the entire station. Sheridan agrees to meet Carlson alone, but manages to smuggle in his communication link under his belt so that Garibaldi can hear what is said. At gunpoint, the bomber demands that Sheridan provide him with a ship to escape from Babylon 5. Sheridan tries to buy more time for Garibaldi's men to locate the bomb by keeping him talking. Sheridan, through his conversation with Carlson, learns that he went crazy after losing everything that was important to him. He lost his job, his home and his wife. Then, Carlson discovers Sheridan's communication link and a panics, attempting to detonate the bomb. A struggle ensues and the detonation device is knocked from Carlson's hand.

Meanwhile, the bomb is located and attached to a magnetic thruster pack. Just before Carlson is able to retrieve the device, the bomb is sent into space. Carlson accepts defeat when there is no explosion after he presses the detonation button.

As things return to normal, Londo and G'Kar are rescued from the transport tube and Lennier recovers from his injuries.
