Synopsis

Note: This synopsis came from Time-Warner's official Babylon 5 page.

Captain Sheridan (BRUCE BOXLEITNER) pays a visit to Vorlon Ambassador Kosh to personally thank him for saving his life, especially since Kosh had to reveal his true appearance in the process.

Meanwhile, David Endawi (TUCKER SMALLWOOD) of Earthforce Special Intelligence arrives on Babylon 5 to investigate the station inhabitant's knowledge of the Shadows. With Sheridan's permission, Endawi interviews the ambassadors, station crew and other Babylon 5 residents, claiming he's seeking information on an unknown alien force. Using camera footage of a Shadow ship retrieved from an Earth alliance fighter that was destroyed in hyperspace, Endawi proceeds with his investigation, gathering some interesting information. Captain Sheridan does not recognize the ship in the photo. Ambassador Delenn (MIRA FURLAN) claims she's never seen the ship before, but later confides to Sheridan that she has seen drawings of the vessel. Centauri Ambassador Londo Mollari (PETER JURASIK) tells Endawi he has seen the vessel in a dream and Narn citizen G'Kar (ANDREAS KATSULAS) shows Endawi an illustration of a Shadow ship found in the ancient Narn Book of G'Quon.

Later, Centauri Ambassador Londo Mollari meets with Morden of the Shadows (ED WASSER) to end their alliance. A smug Morden agrees, but presents certain terms involving territory, including a restriction on the planet Zagros 7.

Marcus Cole (JASON CARTER), a Ranger, arrives at Babylon 5 seeking help from Captain Sheridan and Ambassador Delenn. He comes to request their assistance in breaking a Centauri blockade of Zagros 7, the location of a secret training camp and headquarters for the Rangers. When Sheridan agrees to help, Marcus presents him with the highly advanced White Star, a new ship which combines Human, Minbari and Vorlon technology. Sheridan, Ivanova (CLAUDIA CHRISTIAN), Delenn, Lennier (BILL MUMY) and the White Star crew set out for Zagros 7, but are surprised to find no Centauri fighters guarding the planet. Just as they begin to break the blockade, they have their first encounter with a Shadow vessel and a battle ensues. Sheridan gives the order for evasive action as the White Star destroys enough mines to allow the Rangers to escape. As the chase continues, Sheridan makes a risky move, exploiting the unique qualities of his new ship, allowing the White Star to escape and destroying the Shadow vessel in the process.

In the end, Endawi returns to Earthdome to report his findings. Back on Babylon 5, Sheridan calls his most trusted crew, Garibaldi (JERRY DOYLE), Ivanova and Dr. Franklin (RICHARD BIGGS) together with Ambassador Delenn, Lennier, Ambassador Kosh and Marcus to enact a secret war council designed to protect them from the powerful evil force and the threat of impending war. During this meeting, Marcus attempts to befriend a reluctant Ivanova.
