"Hi," I greeted a lady who was walking around with a clipboard. She looked about 20-25. She smiled.
"May I help you, Miss Cartland?"
"How do you know who I am?" I asked. Hey, it's pretty freaky when someone you don't know knows you. She laughed.
"All of us know about you. You're not just any girl who's on tour with the Boys, but you're going to be singing for a career also. They tell us what we should expect." I nodded and smiled.
"Anyway, I don't need help really. I just wanted to know...what are the boys really like? They seem very sweet and nice...but they could be acting that way since I'm new and all," I slowed down. She led me over to a little sitting area with couches and chairs with a small table in the middle. She sat in a comfy looking chair and I saw down on the couch.
"Well, Nicole, you shouldn't think that this is all just an act. Because it's not. Kevin, Nick, Howie, AJ and Brian are what they are. The sweetest and nicest guys in the whole world. They care only about the fans and if you do become really famous like they are, they wanted to teach you to be like them. So just listen to what they have to say and do what they tell you to do, and you'll be loved and admired like they are." I stared at her in admiration.
"Wow," I whispered. "That's pretty cool. You know them pretty well, don't you?" She nodded.
"I have to get to know them if I'm in charge of all the make-up and costumes they use." I jumped up a little.
"Awesome! Isn't that a hard job to keep?" She nodded again.
"Yes, it is. Very, very busy and hectic. But since they boys are so patient and caring, they understand so it makes my job easier to handle." We chatted a while longer until we saw the dressing room door open.
"Well, it's been very fun meeting you, Nicole. If you ever need a friend on this tour, I'll be here!" We shook hands and she ran off to find Donna Wright. I saw the boys file out, one-by-one. They weren't in their costumes since they were just rehearsing, but dang they still looked good! Kevin and AJ were wearing baggy jeans with a white sleeve-less thing on. AJ also had on his famous sun glasses. Brian was wearing knee-long shorts with a jersey on top. Nick was also wearing a jersey, knee-long shorts, and of course a white baseball cap on backwards. Howie was wearing a gray t-shirt and khakies which looked so good on him.
"Hey guys!" I said as I approached them. "What took you so long? I thought only girls spent time changing..."
"Did we take that long?" Kevin asked, looking some-what troubled. I shook my head.
"No, no. You didn't take that long. Only about 15 minutes," I replied.
"Oh, we were just talking and stuff. We kind of lost track of time, sorry bout that Nicole," smiled Howie. I shook my hand showing that I didn't mind.
"You guys should go rehearse now," I said, looking at my watch. It read 4:17. "Everyone's getting kind of...what's the word? Oh shoot!" I thought for a minute. I snapped my finger. "Oh yeah! Everyone's going insane, that's it!" They all laughed, including me. We all stood there for a minute, looking at each other trying not to laugh. But I pushed all of them onstage. I didn't want them to be late just because of me. I waited until I heard the band start playing and the boys start singing until I started moving around. All my luggage was moved onto the tour bus with everyone else's stuff so I didn't have much to do backstage. Every now and then I saw someone needing help so I ran over and helped them. I talked to almost all the people who worked with the Boys, except the band. I was looking forward to meeting them. I didn't think I needed to though. Everyone pretty much said the same thing. The boys wanted to teach me some things, they were sweet, genorous, kind, etc.
Finally, it was 5:00, one more hour until the show began. I heard some commotion behind me so I turned around. I saw a flash of blue, white, brown, and blond running past me into the dressing rooms. I chuckled to myself. It was time for them to change and get ready. I was told they won't talk until the show begins so their voice won't crack or anything. I totally understood. I sat down on a chair, crossed my legs and thought. I thought about that girl on the radio...Katie Hess.
