"Well, I don't like her, like her," Nick explained. "She sounds really...I dunno, sweet I guess." Kevin laughed.
"You think all girls sound sweet, Nick!" The whole van started laughing again - all except me. 'Oh, wonderful,' I thought. 'I know it's normal for these guys to have crushes, they are only human. But why Nick? Ok, ok. I told myself I wouldn't fall for these guys, but still...'
"Here we are!" Denise exclaimed, interrupting my thoughts. I was glad too, my brain tries to torture me all the time.
"Yes! I need to stretch my legs!" I laughed. I may have been upset about that girl Katie and Nick, but I wasn't going to let that ruin the rest of my fun. Kevin opened the van door and jumped out. He held out his hand and helped me out.
"Ladies first," he said, pretending to be a butler. I giggled.
"Why thank you, kind sir," I replied. He smiled. As everyone else piled out (Nick and Brian were trying to squeeze out at the same time), I looked around me. I noticed we were in a fenced in area, with security and body guards everywhere. I could hear some faint screaming, but some guy told me it was coming from the front of the arena. My eyes squinted in the bright afternoon sun.
"What's the barbed wire for?" I asked out loud. A good looking security guard walked over to me and smiled.
"That's for over-excited fans. Some girls try to climb over, so we put that up. But it still don't work. They climb right over anyway!" I smiled, feeling my cheeks get hot again. Dang, I blush for the darnest reasons, don't I? The guard stretched out his hand and shook my hand.
"My name's Chad, what's your's?" he asked, his eyes twinkling.
"Um, Nicole," I trembled.
"Cool, nice to meet ya." I shrugged.
"Aren't you a little young to be working as security?" I asked.
"Not really. I'm 19, turning 20 soon. Besides, I'm pretty good at it." I smiled. We chatted for a bit while the boys, Denise, and Jane started talking with the body guards and some crew members until the band arrived. Chad turned to me.
"Well, I guess I gotta go. Enjoy the show, k?" I shook his hand again.
"Thanks, I will. C-ya!" I walked back over to the boys who were now with the band members. I watched as everyone helped move around the instruments. I saw Nick kind of stagger while trying to take down the drum set, so I ran over to him and picked up the other end. He smiled.
"Thanks, Nicole. As you can see, I'm not as muscular as the other dudes," he blushed. I laughed. We set down the drum set carefully on the ground.
"Don't worry, Nick. A guy doesn't have to be muscular or buff to impress a girl. At least, not me." Our eyes met, and once again, I felt my heart thumping. His eyes were so beautiful. Aqua blue, full of laughter and song, and twinkling like the ocean itself.
"Earth to Nick and Nicole!" Brian joked as he whacked us in the back of our heads.
"Huh? What?" We both asked. Brian laughed.
"It's time to go. Nick, we don't have much time till the concert." Nick nodded. He started to run backstage with the rest of the guys, but turned towards me again. He grinned, took my hand, and we ran off to join the group
