"Where were ya'll?" asked Brian as he hopped off the counter and walked towards us. Nick did the same.
"Upstairs," I said casually and opened the refridgerator. I grabbed the sweet tea and poured two glasses full. I handed one to BJ. The four of us just sat there drinking and staring at each other.
"So," said BJ. "Call him."
"Call who?" asked Nick.
"No one," she said quickly.
"You want Nicole to call your boyfriend?" he teased. BJ slapped him on his arm and glared at her older brother.
"If you didn't know already, I broke up with Steve a week ago. Thanks for keeping up to date, Nick."
"Oh, sorry."
"Then who do you want to call?" Brian asked, eyeing me. I put my empty glass into the sink and grabbed the phone.
"Fine, I'll call him."
"CALL WHO?!" BJ and I giggled at the two boys' faces. Both of them were filled with curiosity and impatience. I just couldn't believe how they were both so alike!
"I'm calling Jeff."
Brian and Nick looked at each other and grinned, although I saw Nick's face frown a bit...but oh well. "Ohhhh, Jeffffff," they both said. I rolled my eyes at them.
"Oh, please," I muttered. I started punching in the numbers....but hung up the phone. I stared at my hand but turned to BJ. "I can't do this."
"Yes you can," she said as she picked the phone up and handed it to me. I handed it back to her and shook my head.
"No I can't."
"Yes you can."
"NO I can't." Nick stepped in front of BJ and me and spread out his arms.
"Ladies, ladies! Calm down! Nicole, you like arguments that last forever, doncha? And BJ," he turned to look at his sister. "If she doesn't wanna do what she doesn't wanna do, don't make her do what she doesn't wanna do. Ok?" Me and Brian started laughing but BJ just crossed her arms.
"Funny," she said sarcastically. "You crack me up, Nick."
"What?" Nick asked innocently. "What did I do?"
BJ rolled her eyes and looked at me, ignoring her obnoxious brother who was now chuckling with Brian. "So you're just gonna leave this situation alone? You're not gonna find out who this girl is and why he did it?"
I sighed. "Yeah, I guess. It's his business, not mine."
"But you have a right to know! You are his girlfriend....I mean, ex-girlfriend."
"Excuuuuse me?" asked Brian, cocking his eyebrow. "Did I hear the word "ex-grilfriend" somewhere?"
I raised my hand and smiled. "Yup, I'm officially the EX-GIRLFRIEND of the biggest asshole I know."
