A 2nd Chance Part 17

written by: Katie

The newlyweds headed back home the next day, they didn't want to be gone for to long so they headed back. Nick and Lauren knew everything about each other before they got married, but now Brian and Katie knew about each other even better. They told each other memories and funny stories and anything else that seemed relevant, well they spoke even if it wasn't relevant.

They got home and saw Kevin and Howie standing next to each other in the living room. "Where is A.J.?" Katie asked, looking nervously at Kevin. He defiantly looked like he was going to kill someone. "Oh god! You don't know either?!" Kevin said rolling his eyes and throwing his hands in the air. Howie looked tired and was staring at Kevin, hoping that he wouldn't flip out at him like he did last night. "He just disappeared?" Brian said looking at his cousin in concern. "Yep! No note, no call, nothing!" Kevin said, pacing the room. Katie told them that maybe they should practice dancing, in hope of getting Kevin to let off some steam, they did but were interuppted by the phone ringing. Katie ran to get it.

"Hello?" she said breathlessly into the receiver. "Katie?" A.J.'s voiced asked. "Oh god! Do you know that Kevin wants to kill you?" "I can imagine," he said and began to tell his story. He went to Nancy's door, with flowers in hand, and knocked. She answered it and he looked at her in wonderment, she was beautiful, she had long blonde hair and she as tall and thin. She looked like she was going to have a heart attack when she saw him. They spent the day together and were planning on spending the rest of the week with her.

"Well, you better hurry, you got recording to do," Katie said as all the guys came and wanted to know who was on the other end, but Kevin knew right away and tried to grab the phone from her hands. "Here's Kevin-" she said right before be snatched it from her grasp. The two argued for a couple of minutes but Kevin finally told him that he had to be back by next week, or else.

They ate in silence, afraid that Kevin would get upset with whatever they said. Howie took the opportunity to go clubbing and the newlyweds stayed in their rooms.

A.J. had never believed in love at first sight, but he did when he first saw Nancy. She was funny and smart, and easy to talk to. He never wanted the week to end. He started slow with her, he didn't want to ruin a relationship that could go a long way. Finally it was the last night that they would spend together, and the first time that they would sleep together. "Come with me..." A.J. said looking into Nancy's beautiful blue eyes. "No, I have to stay here and take care of my students." She wanted to go as bad as he wanted her to, but her students were her first priority. "Please...." "No, I can't, but you have to come and visit me whenever you are around here," she said as tears ran down her voice. "Yes, of course I will. But I have to ask you a question first," she nodded, "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked with a smile. If he leaved her he wanted to make sure that she would only be his and no one else's. He knew that wouldn't happen though, she had said that she never really dated, she never had the time, but she did a good job with A.J. "Of course," she said and smiled. He left her early that morning and cried on the plane. Everyone was looking at him in the plane, trying to figure out why the superstar was crying his eyes out, but no one wanted to ask.

Everyone was happy back in Florida. They needed to do some major singing and dancing rehearsals with A.J., their time was precious and they couldn't afford to let him run away with a girl off in another state.

The next seven months were very busy, but A.J. still got the time to take weekends off and be with Nancy. They were getting closer and closer and A.J. thought that he would convince her move to Florida pretty soon. It was now June and Nick had made the plans take everyone to Maine, except for A.J., at the end of November, they were all excited to take a breakfrom the constant work they had, it was defiantly effecting people more than others.

Katie sat in her room and stared at the wall, she had just received the worst news ever, she was 3 months pregnant. She didn't want to give it up or get rid of it, she wasn't that type of person, but she didn't want it, and she knew that Brian wasn't ready to be a parent, either. She laid down and stared at the ceiling, not knowing what to do or what to say to him, when he got home. He was doing a book signing for the book he wrote about the guys in his spare time over the years. The others had not gone because they didn't think they had to be there. A.J. was spending another week with Nancy, Howie went to a friend's party, Kevin was out on a date, the only ones home were Nick, Lauren and Katie. Lauren had just left to do some grocery shopping. Katie just sat on her bed and cried.

"What's the matter?" She heard Nick say behind her in his soft voice. She turned around and saw him standing by the doorway, his perfect blonde hair falling onto his face. "Nothing...I don't know," she whimpered and Nick came over and sat on the bed. "You can tell me, I promise not to tell a soul," he said and gave her Scout's Honor. She smiled and looked at the ceiling again. "You promise you won't tell a soul?" "I swear to god," Nick said looking at her. He knew that women had their days, but Katie had been having a lot of them in the past couple of months. "I....I...Brian and I...we...well..." "Come on and spit it out," he said with a big smile and came over to hug her. She whispered in his ear, "I'm pregnant." "What?" He said and backed away from her, "Have you told Brian?" He looked at her in surprise. "No, I just found out, you are the first person I have told, so you better not tell anyone," he nodded and gave her another hug, he was happy, he thought Brian would be too.

"I can't leave you alone for one day and now you are stealing my wife!" Brian said with a big smile on as he came into the bedroom in his big jeans and a tight black shirt, looking very handsome, "What's the matter?" He said, seeing the tears on Katie's face. Nick got up and patted Brian on the back and left with a giggle. "What was that all about?" He asked in the direction of where Nick had just left. "I have to tell you something," she said gently, not sure how to let him down, he would probably be mad.

"Shoot," he looked into her eyes and saw that she looked upset. "I am pregnant," she blurted out and look sadly at the floor. He jumped up and looked at her with a wave of shock on his face. "You are?" "Yes." "I am going to a father?" "Yes." "Oh my god! I am so happy!" He said and jumped up and picked her up off of the bed. "I got to tell everyone!" "You are really happy?" "Of course!" "Let's tell everyone at dinner," she said and smiled, now she was really happy about the baby that she was going to have in six months. They sat at the table and Katie nodded to Nick who look worried. Katie and Brian were quiet and waiting for the right moment to tell everyone that had come to dinner. She got up and called A.J. at the number that he had given them, and she put him on the speaker phone and put the phone in the middle of the dinner table that was now cleared. A.J. wasn't coming back for another three days and neither Katie nor Brian wanted to wait that long.

"We have an announcement," Brian said with a broad smile that A.J. couldn't see from Minnesota. "Yes...we are announcing that there is soon going to be a new addition to this little family we have hear," Katie said smiling and squeezing Brian's hand.

"Well, I am not cleaning up after it!" A.J. said, not sounding happy at all. "What?" Katie said angerly. "I hate dogs and I am not cleaning up after it," he replied, sounding clue less. "We aren't talking about a dog! We are talking about a baby!" Brian retorted angerly. "Oh my god! Congratulations! I'm so sorry I didn't know that is what you meant!" A.J. said laughingly. "Yeah, Congratulations" everyone else chimed in and hugged and kissed the parents-to-be.
