She was seven months pregnant, almost eight, and they were getting ready for the trip to Maine in two weeks. They knew that they were cutting it close, but Katie reassured them that they could easily go to the hospital if there were any problems. She enjoyed reading books on the birth and the pregnancy, that is what she was doing when she heard the intercom buzz.
"Hello?" She asked, the guys never buzzed in, they all had a remote to get into the house, they were all gone now, off filming a television show, and Katie was the only one home. "Yes, can I come in?" she heard an unfamiliar voice answer, she moved from side to side on her feet, uncomfortable with the extra weight the baby had added.
"Who is this?" "My name is Annabelle," Katie nearly fainted when she heard the name, she knew who it was, Brian's girlfriend from before they had met. "Sure, come in," she buzzed her in and waddled over to the door. A tall, slim woman with black hair and blue eyes came in, with a little boy in her arms. Katie extended her hand and decided to see what she wanted by using her maiden name and pretending that she wasn't married to Brian. "My name is Katie Smith, how may I help you?" she asked, looking at the little boy standing next to Annabelle, he must have been a couple of months old.
"Why are you here?" she asked, and even though it was none of her business, Katie answered. "I am a friend of Nick's wife," it wasn't a complete lie. She was, and always had been, Lauren's best friend, she just so happened to be married to Lauren's husband's best friend too. "Well, my name is Annabelle, and this," she said and looked down at the little boy and then stared at Katie's protruding stomach, "is Tommy, Brian's son." She said with a proud smile. "What!?" she nearly screamed. "I told you, now, where is Brian?' "They are all out taping a show." "Okay, well tell him I got his son and show him this picture," she said handing a picture of her and her son, who looked nothing like Brian, "and tell him that I miss him and I love him." Katie nodded and tried to stop the tears, she led Annabelle out the door and burst into tears once she saw that she was gone. She ran into the bathroom and threw-up for 2 hours and cried her eyes out. She went to sleep and cried.
